Timed Automata with Disjoint Activity
نویسندگان
چکیده
The behavior of timed automata consists of idleness and activity, i.e. delay and action transitions. We study a class of timed automata with periodic phases of activity. We show that, if the phases of activity of timed automata in a network are disjoint, then location reachability for the network can be decided using a concatenation of timed automata. This reduces the complexity of verification in Uppaallike tools from quadratic to linear time (in the number of components) while traversing the same reachable state space. We provide templates which imply, by construction, the applicability of sequential composition, a variant of concatenation, which reflects relevant reachability properties while removing an exponential number of states. Our approach covers the class of TDMA-based (Time Division Multiple Access) protocols, e.g. FlexRay and TTP. We have successfully applied our approach to an industrial TDMA-based protocol of a wireless fire alarm system with more than 100 sensors.

Using Interval Petri Nets and Timed Automata for Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DES)
A discrete event system (DES) is a dynamic system that evolves in accordance with the abrupt occurrence, at possibly unknown irregular intervals, of physical events. Because of the special nature of these systems, different tools are currently used for their analysis, design and modeling. The main focus of this paper is the presentation of a new modeling approach of Discrete Event Systems. The ...
متن کاملPath Compression in Timed Automata
The paper presents a method of abstraction for timed systems. To extract an abstract model of a timed system we propose to use static analysis, namely a technique called path compression. The idea behind the path compression consists in identifying a path (or a set of paths) on which a process executes a sequence of transitions that do not influence a property being verified, and replacing this...
متن کاملCompositions of (max, +) automata
Abstract: Automata with weights (multiplicities) in the so called (max,+) semiring constitute a class of timed automata. Their modeling power has been studied in Gaubert and Mairesse (1999): at least timed safe Petri nets can be modeled by means of (max,+) automata. In this contribution, we define compositions for (max,+) automata. The motivation is to be able to model a complex system by compo...
متن کاملTimed Cooperating Automata
We propose Timed Cooperating Automata (TCAs), an extension of the model Cooperating Automata of Harel and Drusinsky, and we investigate some basic properties. In particular we consider variants of TCAs based on the presence or absence of internal activity, urgency and reactivity, and we compare the expressiveness of these variants with that of the classical model of Timed Automata (TAs) and its...
متن کاملRecursive Timed Automata
We study recursive timed automata that extend timed automata with recursion. Timed automata, as introduced by Alur and Dill, are finite automata accompanied by a finite set of real-valued variables called clocks. Recursive timed automata are finite collections of timed automata extended with special states that correspond to (potentially recursive) invocations of other timed automata from their...
