چکیده

The steady state throughput performance of distributed applications deployed in switched networks in presence of end-system bottlenecks is studied in this paper. The e ect of various limitations at an end-system is modelled as an equivalent transmission capacity limitation. A class of distributed applications is characterised by a static tra c distribution matrix that determines the communication between various components of the application. It is found that uniqueness of steady state throughputs depends only on the tra c distribution matrix and that some applications (e.g., broadcast applications) can yield nonunique values for the steady state component throughputs. For a given switch capacity, with tra c distribution that yield fair unique throughputs, the tradeo between the end-system capacity and the number of application components is brought out. With a proposed distributed rate control, it has been illustrated that it is possible to have unique solution for certain tra c distributions which is otherwise impossible. Also, by proper selection of rate control parameters, various throughput performance objectives can be realised.

Improving LoRaWAN Performance Using Reservation ALOHA

LoRaWAN is one of the new and updated standards for IoT applications. However, the expected high density of peripheral devices for each gateway, and the absence of an operative synchronization mechanism between the gateway and peripherals, all of which challenges the networks scalability. In this paper, we propose to normalize the communication of LoRaWAN networks using a Reservation-ALOHA (R-A...

A Differentiated Pricing Framework for Improving the Performance of the Elastic Traffics in Data Networks

Rate allocation has become a demanding task in data networks as diversity in users and traffics proliferate. Most commonly used algorithm in end hosts is TCP. This is a loss based scheme therefore it exhibits oscillatory behavior which reduces network performance. Moreover, since the price for all sessions is based on the aggregate throughput, losses that are caused by TCP affect other sessions...

Improving Performance of Opportunistic Routing Protocol using Fuzzy Logic for Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks in Highways

Vehicular ad hoc networks are an emerging technology with an extensive capability in various applications including vehicles safety, traffic management and intelligent transportation systems. Considering the high mobility of vehicles and their inhomogeneous distributions, designing an efficient routing protocol seems necessary. Given the fact that a road is crowded at some sections and is not c...

Throughout optimization for multimedia applications over high speed networks

Digital video services, scientific visualization and other multimedia applications require delivery of high network throughput to end user applications. In this paper we identify some of the bottlenecks in the data path between highspeed networks and applications which are responsible for poor application performance. We then present solutions to overcome these bottlenecks at various levels nam...

Adaptive Protection Based on Intelligent Distribution Networks with the Help of Network Factorization in the Presence of Distributed Generation Resources

Factorizing a system is one of the best ways to make a system intelligent. Factorizing the protection system, providing the right connecting agents, and transmitting the information faster and more reliably can improve the performance of a protection system and maintain system reliability against distributed generation resources. This study presents a new method for coordinating network protect...
