A Magnetohydrodynamic Model for the Formation of Episodic Jets

چکیده
Episodic ejection of plasma blobs have been observed in many black hole systems. While steady, continuous jets are believed to be associated with largescale open magnetic fields, what causes the episodic ejection of blobs remains unclear. Here by analogy with the coronal mass ejection on the Sun, we propose a magnetohydrodynamical model for episodic ejections from black holes associated with the closed magnetic fields in an accretion flow. Shears and turbulences of the accretion flow deform the field and result in the formation of a flux rope in the disk corona. Energy and helicity are accumulated and stored until a threshold is reached. The system then loses its equilibrium and the flux rope is thrust outward by the magnetic compression force in a catastrophic way. Accretion–ejection phenomena from young stars
In the current paradigm of star formation magnetic fields play a very central role. Indeed, they probably help or even channel the initial gravitational collapse of the parent molecular cloud. But their most spectacular effect is certainly the production of ubiquitous, powerful, bipolar self-collimated jets. Also, in the last decade, evidence has come that in such systems a magnetosphere links ...
متن کاملHeat Transfer under Double Turbulent Pulsating Jets Impinging on a Flat Surface
In this study, the numerical analysis of turbulent flow and heat transfer of double pulsating impinging jets on a flat surface has been investigated. The unsteady two-dimensional numerical solution for two similar and dissimilar jets was performed using the RNG k-ε model. The results showed that the RNG k-ε model has more satisfactory predictions of the Nusselt number distribution. Comparisons ...
متن کاملStability of relativistic jets from rotating, accreting black holes via fully three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations
Rotating magnetized compact objects and their accretion discs can generate strong toroidal magnetic fields driving highly magnetized plasmas into relativistic jets. Of significant concern, however, has been that a strong toroidal field in the jet should be highly unstable to the nonaxisymmetric helical kink (screw) m = 1 mode leading to rapid disruption. In addition, a recent concern has been t...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Free Surface in the Case of Plane Turbulent Wall Jets in Shallow Tailwater
Wall-jet flow is an important flow field in hydraulic engineering, and its applications include flow from the bottom outlet of dams and sluice gates. In this paper, the plane turbulent wall jet in shallow tailwater is simulated by solving the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations using the standard turbulence closure model. This study aims to explore the ability of a time splitting method ...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Local Nusselt Number of the Symmetrical Liquid-Liquid Jets Emitting from a Nozzle
The aim of this paper is to study the local Nusselt number of the symmetrical liquid-liquid jets emitting from a nozzle. Equations obtained from theoretical works are arranged in the form of a computerized model. The validity of this model was tested by the data from an experimental paper [1]. After few adjustments the model predicted the experimental data with a reasonable accuracy. Making...
