Deriving the 12-lead Ecg from Easi Electrodes via Nonlinear Regression

چکیده
The standard 12-lead Electrocardiogram (ECG) is the basic clinical method of heart disease diagnosis. Measuring all 12 leads is often cumbersome and impractical especially on a long term monitoring. In 1988, Gordon Dower has introduced an EASI-lead ECG System, where only 5 electrodes are used. In order to gain all 12-lead ECG back from this EASI system, Dower’s equation was proposed then. Ever since various attempts have been explored to improve the synthesis accuracy, mostly via Linear Regression. This paper presents how Polynomial Regression is used to find a set of transfer coefficients for deriving the 12-lead ECG from EASI system. The experiments were conducted to compare the results those of Polynomial Regression against those of Linear equation and those of Dower’s method. The experimental results have shown that the best performance amongst those methods with the highest correlation coefficient for all signals with the standard 12-lead ECG was obtained by Polynomial degree 3, followed by degree 2, then Linear Regression and Dower’s equation, respectively. The issue of whether a traditional or scientifically based system for applying electrodes to the body for routine electrocardiography may be resolved by deriving the 12-lead ECG from the Frank XYZ signals. The result, the ECGD, is sufficiently close to the ECG for serial comparisons to be valid. Reducing data acquisition to the XYZ signals alone has several technical advantages. These have been...
متن کاملDeriving the 12-lead Electrocardiogram
This paper proposes a lead method and a processing means for monitoring the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) with four standard leads. Leads I, II of the M-L leads and leads V1, V6 of the chest leads are used to record the ECG signals. The ECG waveforms of leads V2 through V5 are derived from the input signals using the least squares method based on the Frank torso model. This method makes it po...

متن کاملAssessment of QT-measurement accuracy using the 12-lead electrocardiogram derived from EASI leads.
The purpose of the present study is to assess QT-interval measurements from the EASI 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) as compared with the standard 12-lead ECG. The QT interval was automatically determined in simultaneously recorded standard and EASI 12-lead ECGs, using a validated wavelet-based delineator. The agreement between the 2 sets of measurements was quantified both on a lead-by-lead ba...
متن کاملComparison of signal quality between EASI and Mason-Likar 12-lead electrocardiograms during physical activity.
BACKGROUND Myoelectric noise and baseline wander, artifacts that appear when patients move during electrocardiographic monitoring, can cause false alarms. This problem can be addressed by using a reduced lead set and placing electrodes on the anterior part of the torso only. The Mason-Likar modification of the standard 12-lead electrocardiogram and the EASI lead system are 2 alternative systems...
