Studies on Red Cell Aplasia . III . Treatment With Horse Antihuman
نویسنده
چکیده
A case of pure red cell aplasia, which did not respond to corticosteroids, splenectomy, or cyclophosphamide, has been described. In vitro studies performed with the patient’s marrow showed a much smalter response to erythropoietin than that observed with previous patients who did respond to cyclophosphamide. The patient’s plasma and -yG-globulin fraction inhibited the rate of heme synthesis of normal marrow cells in vitro. The yMglobulins did not inhibit heme synthesis in the same system. The patient was treated with cyclophosphamide and horse antihuman thymocyte gamma globulin (HAHTGG) and had a definite increase in red cell production, but a severe febrile reaction occurred that prevented further use of the HAHTGG. This study indicates that HAHTGG may be of aid in treating severe cases of red cell aptasia when more effective means of minimizing hypersensitivity reactions are devised.

متن کاملThe Effects of Recombinant Human Erythropoietin (rHuEPO) on Antihuman Lymphocyte Antibodies Titer in Sensitized Rats
Erythropoietin (EPO) was first known as a factor for red blood cell proliferation and differentiation. Recent studies show the effects of EPO on immune system. In this study the antihuman leukocyte antibody (anti-HLA) titer were determined in five groups of rats, which had been sensitized with human lymphocyte. Also, the effects of stimulation's frequency and dose of recombinant human erythropo...
متن کاملLinezolid Induced Twice Pure Red Cell Aplasia in a Patient with Central Nervous System Infection after Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation
Linezolid (LZD), severed as the first oxazolidinone antibiotic, was active against multidrug-resistant gram-positive strains. LZD can induce thrombocytopenia, anemia and leukocytopenia. Currently, reports on pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) cases induced by LZD are relatively rare [4-7]. In this paper, we reported a patient with PRCA twice induced by LZD. A 37-year-old man was diagnosed with myelody...
