Editing to Connected f-Degree Graph

چکیده
In the Edge Editing to Connected f-Degree Graph problem we are given a graph G, an integer k and a function f assigning integers to vertices of G. The task is to decide whether there is a connected graph F on the same vertex set as G, such that for every vertex v, its degree in F is f(v) and the number of edges in E(G)4E(F ), the symmetric difference of E(G) and E(F ), is at most k. We show that Edge Editing to Connected f-Degree Graph is fixed-parameter tractable (FPT) by providing an algorithm solving the problem on an n-vertex graph in time 2O(k)nO(1). Our FPT algorithm is based on a non-trivial combination of colorcoding and fast computations of representative families over direct sum matroid of `-elongation of co-graphic matroid associated with G and uniform matroid over E(G), the set of non-edges of G. We believe that this combination could be useful in designing parameterized algorithms for other edge editing problems. 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.2.2 Nonnumerical Algorithms and Problems

An independent broadcast on a connected graph $G$is a function $f:V(G)to mathbb{N}_0$such that, for every vertex $x$ of $G$, the value $f(x)$ is at most the eccentricity of $x$ in $G$,and $f(x)>0$ implies that $f(y)=0$ for every vertex $y$ of $G$ within distance at most $f(x)$ from $x$.The broadcast independence number $alpha_b(G)$ of $G$is the largest weight $sumlimits_{xin V(G)}f(x)$of an ind...
متن کاملSplice Graphs and their Vertex-Degree-Based Invariants
Let G_1 and G_2 be simple connected graphs with disjoint vertex sets V(G_1) and V(G_2), respectively. For given vertices a_1in V(G_1) and a_2in V(G_2), a splice of G_1 and G_2 by vertices a_1 and a_2 is defined by identifying the vertices a_1 and a_2 in the union of G_1 and G_2. In this paper, we present exact formulas for computing some vertex-degree-based graph invariants of splice of graphs.
متن کاملEditing to a Connected Graph of Given Degrees
The aim of edge editing or modification problems is to change a given graph by adding and deleting of a small number of edges in order to satisfy a certain property. We consider the Edge Editing to a Connected Graph of Given Degrees problem that for a given graph G, non-negative integers d, k and a function δ : V (G) → {1, . . . , d}, asks whether it is possible to obtain a connected graph G′ f...
متن کاملEditing to Eulerian Graphs
We investigate the problem of modifying a graph into a connected graph in which the degree of each vertex satisfies a prescribed parity constraint. Let ea, ed and vd denote the operations edge addition, edge deletion and vertex deletion respectively. For any S ⊆ {ea, ed, vd}, we define Connected Degree Parity Editing(S) (CDPE(S)) to be the problem that takes as input a graph G, an integer k and...
