Quasiparticle spectrum in a nearly antiferromagnetic Fermi liquid: Shadow and flat bands.

چکیده
We consider a two-dimensional Fermi liquid in the vicinity of a spin-densitywave transition to a phase with commensurate antiferromagnetic long-range order. We assume that near the transition, the Fermi surface is large and crosses the magnetic Brillouin zone boundary. We show that under these conditions, the self-energy corrections to the dynamical spin susceptibility, χ(q, ω), and to the quasiparticle spectral function function, A(k, ω), are divergent near the transition. We identify and sum the series of most singular diagrams, and obtain a solution for χ(q, ω) and an approximate solution for A(k, ω). We show that (i) A(k) at a given, small ω has an extra peak at k = kF + π (‘shadow band’), and (ii) the dispersion near the crossing points is much flatter than for free electrons. The relevance of these results to recent photoemission experiments in Y BCO and Bi2212 systems is discussed. Typeset using REVTEX

Theory for the Doping Dependence of Spin Fluctuation Induced Shadow States in High-Tc Superconductors
We analyze the doping dependence of the intensity and energetical position of shadow states in high -Tc superconductors within the 2D Hubbard model and using our recently developed numerical method for the self consistent summation of bubble and ladder diagrams. It is shown that shadow states resulting from short range antiferromagnetic correlations occur for small but finite excitation energie...
متن کاملExact Diagonalization Study of Strongly Correlated Electron Models: Hole Pockets and Shadow Bands in the Doped T-j Model
A detailed exact-diagonalization study is made for the doping dependence of the single-particle spectral function A(k, ω) and momentum distribution function n(k) of the two-dimensional t−J model as a representative model for doped Mott insulators. The results for A(k, ω) show unambiguously that the rigid-band behavior is realized in the small-cluster t−J model: upon doping, the uppermost states...
متن کاملNearly Antiferromagnetic Fermi Liquids : A Progress Report
I describe recent theoretical and experimental progress in understanding the physical properties of the two dimensional nearly anti-ferromagnetic Fermi liquids (NAFL's) found in the normal state of the cuprate superconductors. In such NAFL's, the magnetic interaction between planar quasiparticles is strong and peaked at or near the commensurate wave vector, Q ≡ (π, π). For the optimally doped a...

Recent experiments on the Fermi surface and the electronic structure of the cuprate-supercondutors showed the importance of short range antiferromagnetic correlations for the physics in these systems. Theoretically, features like shadow bands were predicted and calculated mainly for the Hubbard model. In our approach we calculate an approximate selfenergy of the t-J model. Solving the U = ∞ Hub...

A novel approach to investigation of correlation effects in the electronic structure of magnetic crystals which takes into account a frequency dependence of the self energy (so called “LDA++ approach”) is developed. The fluctuation exchange approximation is generalized to the spin-polarized multi-band case and its local version is proposed. As an example, we calculate the electronic quasipartic...
