چکیده

Autonomous vehicles promise numerous improvements to vehicular traffic: an increase in both highway capacity and traffic flow because of faster response times, less fuel consumption and pollution thanks to more foresighted driving, and hopefully less accidents thanks to collision avoidance systems. And their drivers can save time for more useful activities. In order for these vehicles to safely operate in everyday traffic or in harsh off-road environments, a multitude of problems in perception, navigation and control have to be solved. This article gives an overview of the most current trends in autonomous vehicles, highlighting the concepts common to most successful systems as well as their differences. It concludes with an outlook into the promising future of autonomous vehicles.

Real-Time Motion Planning for Agile Autonomous Vehicles

Planning the path of an autonomous, agile vehicle ina dynamic environment is a very complex problem, especially when the vehicle is required to use its full maneuvering capabilities. Recent efforts aimed at using randomized algorithms for planning the path of kinematic and dynamic vehicles have demonstrated considerable potential for implementation on future autonomous platforms. This paper bui...

Obstacle avoidance for an autonomous vehicle using force field method

This paper presents a force field concept for guiding a vehicle at a high speed maneuver. This method is  similar to potential field method. In this paper, motion constrains like vehicles velocity, distance to obstacle and tire conditions and such lane change conditions as zero slop condition and zero lateral acceleration are discussed. After that, possible equations as vehicles path ar...

Architecture for an unmanned ground vehicle

This paper describes architecture for an autonomous land vehicle for high-speed driving without human intervention. This is a model proposed for the DARPA Grand Challenge in 2004, which was to make a robotic vehicle that will drive a desert terrain of 132 miles autonomously. In comparison to other challenges in the robotics domain, this challenge was really different because it encompassed maki...

Low Cost UAV-based Remote Sensing for Autonomous Wildlife Monitoring

In recent years, developments in unmanned aerial vehicles, lightweight on-board computers, and low-cost thermal imaging sensors offer a new opportunity for wildlife monitoring. In contrast with traditional methods now surveying endangered species to obtain population and location has become more cost-effective and least time-consuming. In this paper, a low-cost UAV-based remote sensing platform...

Design of an Intelligent Controller for Station Keeping, Attitude Control, and Path Tracking of a Quadrotor Using Recursive Neural Networks

During recent years there has been growing interest in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Moreover, the necessity to control and navigate these vehicles has attracted much attention from researchers in this field. This is mostly due to the fact that the interactions between turbulent airflows apply complex aerodynamic forces to the system. Since the dynamics of a quadrotor are non-linear and the ...
