Wave scattering by many small bodies

چکیده
Abstract Wave scattering by many (M = M(a)) small bodies, at the boundary of which an interface boundary condition is imposed, is studied. Smallness of the bodies means that ka << 1, where a is the characteristic dimension of the body and k = 2π λ is the wave number in the medium in which small bodies are embedded. Equation for the effective field is derived in the limit as a → 0, M(a)→∞, at a suitable rate.

Many-body wave scattering by small bodies
Acoustic or electromagnetic EM wave scattering by one or several bodies is usually studied by reducing the problem to solving some integral equations. In this paper we show that if the bodies are small in comparison with the wavelength, then the scattering problem can be reduced to solving linear algebraic systems with matrices whose elements have physical meaning. These elements are electrical...
متن کاملMany-body wave scattering by small bodies and creating materials with a desired refraction coefficient
Many-body scattering problem is solved asymptotically when the size of the particles tends to zero and the number of the particles tends to infinity. A method is given for calculation of the number of small particles and their boundary impedances such that embedding of these particles in a bounded domain, filled with known material, results in creating a new material with a desired refraction c...
متن کاملElectromagnetic wave scattering by small bodies
A reduction of the Maxwell’s system to a Fredholm second-kind integral equation with weakly singular kernel is given for electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering by one and many small bodies. This equation is solved asymptotically as the characteristic size of the bodies tends to zero. The technique developed is used for solving the manybody EM wave scattering problem by rigorously reducing it to s...

Wave scattering by many (M = M(a)) small bodies, at the boundary of which transmission boundary conditions are imposed, is studied. Smallness of the bodies means that ka << 1, where a is the characteristic dimension of the body and k = 2π λ is the wave number in the medium in which small bodies are embedded. Explicit asymptotic formulas are derived for the field scattered by a single small scat...
متن کاملNumerical Method for Solving Electromagnetic Scattering Problem by Many Small Impedance Bodies
In this paper, we study the problem of electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering by many small impedance bodies. A numerical method for solving this problem is presented. The problem is solved under the physical assumptions a ¿ d ¿ λ, where a is the characteristic size of the bodies, d is the minimal distance between neighboring bodies, λ = 2π/k is the wave length and k is the wave number. This prob...
