Automated Mosaicing with Super-resolution Zoom

چکیده
We describe mosaicing for a sequence of images acquired by a camera rotating about its centre. The novel contributions are in two areas. First, in the automation and estimation of image registration: images ( ) are registered under a full (8 degrees of freedom) homography; the registration is automatic and robust, and a maximum likelihood estimator is used. In particular the registration is consistent so that there are no accumulated errors over a sequence. This means that it is not a problem if the sequence loops back on itself. The second novel area is in enhanced resolution. A region of the mosaic can be viewed at a resolution higher than any of the original frames. It is shown that the degree of resolution enhancement is determined by a measure based on a matrix norm. A maximum likelihood solution is given, which also takes account of the errors in the estimated homographies. An improved MAP estimator is also developed. Results of both MLE and MAP estimation are included for sequences acquired by a camcorder and a CCD camera.

متن کاملA Transform-Domain Approach to Super-resolution Mosaicing of Compressed Images
The combination of image mosaicing and super-resolution imaging, i.e. superresolution mosaicing, is a powerful means of representing all the information of multiple overlapping images to obtain a high resolution broad view of a scene. In most current image acquisition systems, images are routinely compressed prior to transmission and storage. In this paper, we present a robust super-resolution ...
متن کاملMosaicing from a Translating Camera, with Eecient Application of Super-resolution
Mosaicing and super resolution are two ways to combine information from multiple frames in video sequences. Mosaicing displays the information of multiple frames in a single panoramic image. Super-resolution uses regions which appear in multiple frames to improve resolution and reduce noise. Combining both methods enables to represent all the static information in the sequence in a compact and ...

Mosaicing and super resolution are two ways to combine information from multiple frames in video sequences. Mosaicing displays the information of multiple frames in a single panoramic image. Simple combination of the two methods is problematic since the alignment used for mosaicing may not be a...
متن کاملSuper-Resolution Mosaicing of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Surveillance Video Frames
Unmanned Aircraft Systems have been used in many military and civil applications, particularly surveillance. However, video frames are often blurry, noisy, and exhibit insufficient spatial resolution. This project aims to develop a vision-based algorithm to improve the quality of UAS video frames. This algorithm will be able to generate high resolution mosaic output through a combination of ima...
