Monte Carlo study of 2D bosonic gases

چکیده
We consider a bidimensional system of few identical bosons trapped in a harmonic well that interact through a two-body gaussian potential. We discuss the ground state energy using a mean-field approximation and introducing pair correlations. To solve the many-body problem we used Monte Carlo techniques: Variational and Diffusion Monte Carlo. We find that two-body correlations lower significantly the energy per particle of the system in the strong interaction limit.

Vortices and 2D Bosons: A Path-Integral Monte Carlo Study
The vortex system in a high-Tc superconductor has been studied numerically using the mapping to 2D bosons and the Path Integral Monte Carlo method. We find a single first-order transition from an Abrikosov lattice to an entangled vortex liquid. The transition is characterized by an entropy jump of ∆S ≈ 0.27kB per degree of freedom and a Lindemann number cL ≈ 0.29. At low fields, λ ≈ a0, the den...
متن کاملCharacterization of Carbon Nanotube (CNT) in Adsorption Gas: Monte Carlo and Langevin Dynamic Simulation
Nanostructures have considerably higher surface areas than their bulk counterparts; thereforesurfaces often play important, sometimes even dominant, roles in the nanostructure properties. Thenanocrystalline and nanotubes have low band gaps and high carrier mobility, thus offeringappealing potential as absorption gas. Interaction between methanol molecules and carbonnanotube is investigated usin...
متن کاملOne-dimensional multicomponent Fermi gas in a trap: quantum Monte Carlo study
One-dimensional world is very unusual as there is an interplay between quantum statistics and geometry, and a strong short-range repulsion between atoms mimics Fermi exclusion principle, fermionizing the system. Instead, a system with a large number of components with a single atom in each, on the opposite acquires many bosonic properties. We study the ground-state properties of a multicomponen...

متن کاملLow-dimensional weakly interacting Bose gases: Nonuniversal equations of state
The zero-temperature equation of state is analyzed in low-dimensional bosonic systems. We propose to use the concept of energy-dependent s-wave scattering length for obtaining estimations of nonuniversal terms in the energy expansion. We test this approach by making a comparison to exactly solvable one-dimensional problems and find that the generated terms have the correct structure. The applic...
