Patient-Centered design as a research strategy for cognitive prosthetics: Lessons learned from working with patients and clinicians for 2 decades
نویسنده
چکیده
Patient-centered design addresses the priorities of the individual patient, and is advocated as a research strategy for the design of cognitive assistive technology. From the patient’s perspective, a robust system can be viewed as one that optimally increases her/his level of functioning over the long haul, for his/her priority activities, as they reveal themselves over time. Prosthetic software customization and use is integrated into the user’s therapy sessions. These sessions are conducted in the patient’s home via telerehabilitation. The advantages of this strategy are described, along with research findings that were obtained using this strategy. The need for training rehabilitation therapists is also discussed. متن کاملLessons Learned From Two Decades of Patient- and Family-Centered Care in Radiology, Part 2: Building a Culture.
As reimbursements are increasingly linked to patient experience, physicians and hospitals will need to find ways to incorporate patient and family input into operational decisions. Rather than starting from the beginning, health systems could learn from practitioners who have been experimenting in this space and are willing to share their experience. The authors share lessons learned from two d...

There is renewed interest in patient engagement in clinical and research settings, creating a need for documenting and publishing lessons learned from efforts to meaningfully engage patients. This article describes early lessons learned from the development of OCHIN's Patient Engagement Panel (PEP). OCHIN supports a national network of more than 300 community health centers (CHCs) and other pri...
متن کاملLessons Learned From Two Decades of Patient- and Family-Centered Care in Radiology, Part 1: Getting Started.
Patient- and family-centered care has a long history, but the application of these principles to radiology is limited by infrequent direct patient contact for many radiologists; scarce peer-reviewed data in the radiology literature; and sparse access to implementation strategies, tools, and best practices. In a series of two articles, the authors share two decades of lessons learned from implem...
متن کاملL2 Learners’ Strategy Preference in Metaphorical Test Performance: Effects of Working Memory and Cognitive Style
