Statistical mechanics of two dimensional vesicles

چکیده
We have used a q-space method for calculating thermodynamic quantities of a twodimensional vesicle introduced by Ostrowsky and Peyraud. This method has been used to calculate the radius of gyration, the area, and the shape of vesicles as a function of perimeter length £ and Helfrich curvature parameter K. It is found, in agreement with the hypothesis of Fisher, that all thermodynamic quantities can be plotted on universal curves as a function of £/K. In the small £, large K (stiff~, and large £, small K (floppy or fractal) limits, the results are broadly consistent with real space computations of other authors.

AN ACCURATE SOLUTION FOR THE TWODIMENSIONAL MODEL OF ALBITE USING STATISTICAL MECHANICS
A two-dimensional model of Al, Si ordering in alkali feldspar is formulated and used to calcul~tea ccurately the configurational entropy for the model. For this purpose, a new method called Independent Basic Unit or IBU is introduced. To compare the results with the exact values, this method is applied to the onedimensional model of albite. The results given by IBU are found to be accurate ...
متن کاملDelamination of Two-Dimensional Functionally Graded Multilayered Non-Linear Elastic Beam - an Analytical Approach
Delamination fracture of a two-dimensional functionally graded multilayered four-point bending beam that exhibits non-linear behaviour of the material is analyzed. The fracture is studied analytically in terms of the strain energy release rate. The beam under consideration has an arbitrary number of layers. Each layer has individual thickness and material properties. A delamination crack is loc...
متن کاملApplications of methods of quantum statistical mechanics to two - dimensional electron systems
1 Abstract The random matrix ensembles are applied to the quantum statistical two-dimensional systems of electrons. The quantum systems are studied using the finite dimensional real, complex and quaternion Hilbert spaces of the eigenfunctions. The linear operators describing the systems act on these Hilbert spaces and they are treated as random matrices in generic bases of the eigenfunctions. T...
متن کاملA two dimensional Simulation of crack propagation using Adaptive Finite Element Analysis
Finite element method (FEM) is one of the most famous methods which has many applications in varies studies such as the study of crack propagation in engineering structures. However, unless extremely fine meshes are employed, problem arises in accurately modelling the singular stress field in the singular element area around the crack tip. In the present study, the crack growth simulation has b...
