Periodic Sorting

چکیده
Let and be a partition of f1; : : : ; ng into two blocks. A merging network is a network of comparators which allows as input arbitrary real numbers and has the property that, whenever the input sequence x 1 ; x 2 ; : : : ; x n is such that the subse-quence in the positions and the subsequence in the positions are each sorted, the output sequence will be sorted. We study the class of \recursively constructed" merging networks and characterize those with delay dlog 2 ne (the best possible delay for all merging networks). When n is a power of 2, we show that at least 3 n=2?1 of these nets are log-periodic sorters; that is, they sort any input sequence after log 2 n passes through the net. (Two of these have appeared previously in the literature.)

A MULTI-OBJECTIVE DECENTRALIZED MULTIPLE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS SCHEDULING PROBLEM CONSIDERING PERIODIC SERVICES AND ORDERING POLICIES
In decentralized construction projects, costs are mostly related to investment, material, holding, logistics, and other minor costs for implementation. For this reason, simultaneous planning of these items and appropriate scheduling of activities can significantly reduce the total costs of the project undertaken. This paper investigates the decentralized multiple construction projects schedulin...
متن کاملPeriodic comparator networks
We survey recent results on periodic algorithms. We focus on the problems of sorting, merging and permuting and concentrate on algorithms that have small constant periods.
متن کاملFast and Feasible Periodic Sorting Networks of Constant Depth
A periodic comparator network has depth (or period) k, if for every t > k, the compare-exchange operations performed at step t are executed between exactly the same registers as at step t k. We introduce a general method that converts an arbitrary comparator network that sorts n items in time T(n) and that has layout area A into a periodic sorting network of depth 5 that sorts O(n .T(n)) items ...
متن کاملElectrostatic potentials and free energies of solvation of polar and charged molecules
Theories of solvation free energies often involve electrostatic potentials at the position of a solute charge. Simulation calculations that apply cutoffs and periodic boundary conditions based on molecular centers result in centerdependent contributions to electrostatic energies due to a systematic sorting of charges in radial shells. This sorting of charges induces a surface-charge density at ...
متن کاملRanking and Sorting in Unreliable Single Hop Radio Network
We propose simple and efficient sorting algorithm for unreliable single hop radio network. (In such network each listening station receives transmitted message with some probability p < 1.) We also propose a method of periodic transmission of a sorted sequence that allows for efficient and energetically safe ranking in this sequence.
متن کاملPeriodic Sorting on 2 - D Meshes 215
We consider the following periodic sorting procedure on two-dimensional meshes of processors: Initially, each node contains one number. We proceed in rounds each round consisting of sorting the columns of the grid, and, in the second phase, of sorting the rows according to the snake-like ordering. We exactly characterize the number of rounds necessary to sort on an l m-grid in the worst case, w...
