چکیده

The acceptance of thermal dilution curves for the estimation of cardiac output has boon discouraged by unconvincing comparisons with the Fick method and by the possibility of the loss of "indicator" to the tissues of the central circulation. The present studies were undertaken to examine the technical and physiologic factors affecting thermal curves, with particular reference to tissue heat exchanges, and to provide adequate data for estimating the usefulness of the thermal curves for simultaneous measurements of right and left ventricular outputs.

Thermal dilution measurement of pulmonary and systemic blood flow in secundum atrial septal defect, and transposition of great arteries with intact interventricular septum.

The measurement of cardiac output is difficult in infants and children. In them the Fick and dye dilution methods both have distinct disadvantages. The Fick method requires cumbersome equipment, especially for measuring oxygen uptake. The dye dilution method requires the injection of a dye and the placement of an arterial catheter to sample large quantities of blood rapidly; furthermore, it is ...

CARDIO--a Lotus 1-2-3 based computer program for rapid calculation of cardiac output from dye or thermal dilution curves.

We have developed a menu-driven computer program (CARDIO), based on a Lotus 1-2-3 template and a series of macrocommands, that rapidly and semiautomatically calculates cardiac output from dye or thermal dilution curves. CARDIO works with any dye or thermal dilution recorder with an analog output, any analog to digital (A-to-D) conversion system, and any computer capable of running Lotus 1-2-3 v...

Pressure, temperature and fluid composition in the Kalaybar aureole, NW Iran; Mineral equilibria in metapelitic and calc-silicate rocks

Intrusion of the Kalaybar nepheline syenite into the Cretaceous pelitic and calcareous sediments has produced a thermal aureole up to 1km thick. Six mineralogical zones are developed in the pelitic rocks with minerals such as cordierite, K feldspar, sillimanite and corundum. Chemically suitable rocks are partially melted in response to the heat from the pluton. Five mineralogical zones are deve...

Water Stress Scatters Nitrogen Dilution Curves in Wheat

Nitrogen dilution curves relate a crop’s critical nitrogen concentration (%Nc) to biomass (W) according to the allometric model %Nc = a W−b. This model has a strong theoretical foundation, and parameters a and b show little variation for well-watered crops. Here we explore the robustness of this model for water stressed crops. We established experiments to examine the combined effects of water ...

Measurement of Myocardial Blood Flow

A"CLOSED" method for the accurate measurement of myocardial blood flow is still to be achieved. In 1956, Henly et al. described an indicator-dilution technique for assessing myocardial blood flow. This approach led us to construct a suitable model for simulating a systemic-coronary circuit. Observations with this system suggested that an indicator-dilution technique might be applicable to measu...
