چکیده

It is proved that the cosmological density perturbation is associated with a peculiar velocity field. This allows a simple formulation of cosmological perturbation theory, which works entirely with quasi-Newtonian fluid flow equations. As an illustration, the large scale cosmic microwave background anisotropy (Sachs-Wolfe effect) is calculated without any reference to the metric perturbation. In addition, assuming the usual adiabatic initial condition on the density perturbation, we show that the dipole of the anisotropy measures our peculiar velocity relative to the average peculiar velocity within the last scattering surface of the microwave background, thus defining its frame of reference. email [email protected] email [email protected]

Density Contrast–Peculiar Velocity Relation in the Newtonian Gauge

In general relativistic framework of large scale structure formation theory in the universe, we investigate relation between density contrast and peculiar velocity in the Newtonian gauge. According to the gauge–invariant property of the energy–momentum tensor in the this gauge, the velocity perturbation behaves as the Newtonian peculiar velocity. In this framework, relation between peculiar vel...

Alfvén waves in the recent CMB data , and the observational bound on the primordial vector perturbation

We have investigated imprints of cosmological Alfvén waves in Cosmic Microwave Background(CMB) anisotropy. For data constraints, we have used the power spectrum of the recent CMB observations, and correlations estimated from WMAP Internal Linear Combination (ILC) maps. Our analysis shows 3σ evidence of cosmological Alfvén waves. Using the 3σ limit from our analysis and the Alfvén velocity limit...

Large-scale peculiar motions and cosmic acceleration

Observers with small, but finite, peculiar velocities relative to the Hubble flow can measure a negative deceleration parameter, although the universe may be actually decelerating. The effect is local but it can affect large enough scales to give the impression that the whole universe had recently entered an accelerated phase. We outline the key features of the accelerating mechanism and discus...

CMB Anisotropy Due to Tangled magnetic fields in re-ionized models

Primordial tangled cosmological Magnetic Fields source rotational velocity perturbations of the baryon fluid, even in the post-recombination universe. These vortical modes inturn leave a characteristic imprint on the temperature anisotropy of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), if the CMB photons can be re-scatterred after recombination. Observations from WMAP indicate that the Universe unde...

Concepts in CMB Anisotropy Formation

These lecture notes form a primer on the theory of cosmic microwave background (CMB) anisotropy formation. With emphasis on conceptual aspects rather than technical issues, we examine the physical foundations of anisotropy evolution in relativistic kinetic and perturbation theory as well as the manifestation of these principles in primary and secondary anisotropies. We discuss gauge choice and ...
