چکیده
Through aeroelastic modeling of membrane wings such as Leading Edge Inflatable (LEI) tube kites used in Airborne Wind applications, one can gain a better understanding of processes relevant for flight stability and performanceoptimization. Theaimof thisproject is toestablish abaseline for apartitionedaeroelastic solver suitable for membrane wings at high Reynolds numbers by coupling high fidelity structure and fluid models.

Progress Toward Using Sensitivity Derivatives in aHigh - Fidelity
Several government/commercial oo-the-shelf modular software packages have been combined to perform static aeroelastic analysis and aerodynamic optimization of a generic high-speed civil transport, with the eventual goal of performing high-delity multidisciplinary optimization (MDO). Results obtained for the aeroelastic analysis and aerodynamic optimization cases are consistent with expectations...
متن کاملHigh performance finite element analysis of composite aeroelastic structures
A high performance finite element analysis software tool has been developed for high fidelity deformation analysis of aeroelastic tailored wings and blades made of anisotropic composite materials. The package comprises an in-line semiautomatic adaptive mesh generator and a finite element solver. An aerodynamic solver can be plugged into the package to perform a coupled aero-structure analysis. ...
متن کاملStatic Nonlinear Aeroelasticity of Flexible Slender Wings in Compressible Flow
A high-fidelity numerical formulation is presented for the high-speed aeroelastic behavior of slender composite wings. The compressible flow is modeled using the 3-D Euler equations on a deformable mesh, and an asymptotic approximation of the 3-D kinematically-nonlinear equations of elasticity models the anisotropic slender structure. The transfer of the distributed loads and displacements at t...
متن کاملAeroelastic Analysis of Engine Nacelle Strake Considering Geometric Nonlinear Behavior
Abstract—The aeroelastic behavior of engine nacelle strake when subjected to unsteady aerodynamic flows is investigated in this paper. Geometric nonlinear characteristics and modal parameters of nacelle strake are studied when it is under dynamic loading condition. Here, an N-S based Finite Volume solver is coupled with Finite Element (FE) based nonlinear structural solver to investigate the no...
متن کاملThe AVINOR Aeroelastic Simulation Code and its Application to Reduced Vibration Composite Rotor Blade Design
The Active Vibration and Noise Reduction (AVINOR) aeroelastic simulation code for helicopter rotor blades is described. AVINOR is a research code that has been developed at UCLA and the University of Michigan for the purpose of conducting computationally efficient aeroelastic response analyses while maintaining a level of fidelity so as to be suitable for preliminary design of helicopter rotor ...
