Left- and Right-dislocations as Adjunctions in Early Child French

ثبت نشده
چکیده

This paper outlines the initial stages in the acquisition of dislocations (as in (1)) by young francophones before the age of 2;6. Dislocations are shown to be derived by adjunction to IP or CP in the child language. A structure-building analysis of the data reveals that the ability of the child to implement CP is a prerequisite for certain types of dislocations. The implications of my results for the study of the adult language are twofold: (i) If no feature-checking is involved in the derivation of dislocations in child French, it is very likely that the same applies to adult French. (ii) The dialectal split observed among the children may be an indication that adult Belgian French requires an analysis of the left periphery different from that of other dialects.

Adjunctions between Hom and Tensor as endofunctors of (bi-) module category of comodule algebras over a quasi-Hopf algebra.

For a Hopf algebra H over a commutative ring k and a left H-module V, the tensor endofunctors V k - and - kV are left adjoint to some kinds of  Hom-endofunctors of _HM. The units and counits of these adjunctions are formally trivial as in the classical case. The category of (bi-) modules over a quasi-Hopf algebra is monoidal and some generalized versions of  Hom-tensor relations have been st...

Structure Building and the Acquisition of Dislocations in Child French

Dislocations are very frequent in adult French across dialects, and can affect not only subjects, but any sentence constituent. In the speech of children, dislocations appear very early on, and they are frequent from the start (see (3)-(5)). The rationale behind this investigation is that the pervasive nature of early dislocations must reflect a relative syntactic simplicity: at any one time in...

Representation of Mother for Guardianship of the Child in Iranian and French Laws

The French law, contrary to the Iranian law, has given the mother a kind of representation for guardianship and training of the child. Before the 1970 reform in ...

Comparative Dermatoglyphic Study between Autistic Patients and Normal People in Iran

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder originating from early childhood; nevertheless, its diagnosis is in older ages. In addition to heredity, environmental factors are also of great significance in the etiology of the disease. Dermatoglyphic patterns, albeit varied, remain stable for a lifetime and yield a large number of patterns upon examination. Studies have shown a significant associatio...
