چکیده
Aortic atresia with ventriculoarterial discordance in a three day old neonate was studied by cross sectional echocardiography and the anatomy was confirmed at necropsy.

Aortic atresia occurring with complete transposition of great arteries.
Aortic atresia occurring with complete transposition of the great arteries (ventriculoarterial discordance) has not previously been reported. A patient with this condition is described, who is alive and relatively well at the age of 6 years. This survival contrasts conspicuously with that of patients with the far commoner situation of aortic atresia with normally connected great arteries. It is...
متن کاملAbsent sixth aortic arch: a form of pulmonary atresia.
Pulmonary atresia is characterized by developmental abnormalities of the pulmonary valve or pulmonary arterial tree, with complete obstruction to blood flow by the normal route. We recognize three main types, based on embryology, anatomy, and suitability for surgical treatment. Pulmonary atresia as an element of a more complex lesion such as transposition of the great vessels or tricuspid atres...

CLINICAL AND PATHOLOGIC REVIEWS of mixed (discordant) levocardia (atrial situs solitus with L-loop with or without corrected transposition of the great arteries) have stressed the high association of this lesion with ventricular septal defect, pulmonic stenosis, left atrioventricular (A-V) valve regurgitation with or without stenosis, and Ebstein's disease of the left A-V valve.'Obstruction to ...
متن کاملHypoplastic left heart with complete transposition of the great arteries.
A male newborn infant with hypoplastic left heart and transposition of the great arteries died on the second day of life. The haemodynamic consequences of this malformation are considerably different from those of ordinary hypoplastic left heart syndrome because of pulmonary rather than aortic atresia. In the absence of cross sectional echocardiographic equipment, cardiac catheterisation with a...
متن کاملMitral Atresia with Normal Aortic Valve
Eighteen cases of mitral atresia with normal aortic valve plus 68 cases from the literature are analyzed. A new classification based on anatomical findings is proposed. Pulmonary stenosis or atresia is frequent in the type with transposition of the great arteries. The rare instances of normal or large left ventricle are due to a large ventricular septal defect, or to straddling or displaced tri...
