چکیده

We study the dynamical electronic response of Cs at a first-principles level. The spatially localized 5p semicore shell induces a physical interplay between crystal local fields and electron correlations, leading to a novel, and relatively large, many-body shift of the plasmon energy. This effect, combined with that of oneelectron transitions into empty states near the plasmon energy, yields a plasmon dispersion curve which is in excellent agreement with experiment for small wave vectors. In addition, our results feature a flat dispersion for large wave vectors, in qualitative agreement with experiment. @S0163-1829~97!07504-8#

Finding Electrostatics modes in Metal Thin Films by using of Quantum Hydrodynamic Model

In this paper, by using a quantum hydrodynamic plasma model which incorporates the important quantum statistical pressure and electron diffraction force, we present the corrected plasmon dispersion relation for graphene which includes a k quantum term arising from the collective electron density wave interference effects (which  is integer and constant and k is wave vector). The longitudinal ...

Size–dependent Correlation Effects in Ultrafast Optical Dynamics of Metal Nanoparticles

We study the role of collective surface excitations in the electron relaxation in small metal particles. We show that the dynamically screened electron– electron interaction in a nanoparticle contains a size–dependent correction induced by the surface. This leads to new channels of quasiparticle scattering accompanied by the emission of surface collective excitations. We calculate the energy an...

How harmonic is dipole resonance of metal clusters?

We discuss the degree of anharmonicity of dipole plasmon resonances in metal clusters. We employ the time-dependent variational principle and show that the relative shift of the second phonon scales as N−4/3 in energy, N being the number of particles. This scaling property coincides with that for nuclear giant resonances. Contrary to the previous study based on the boson-expansion method, the d...

Effects of the crystal structure in the dynamical electron density-response of hcp transition metals

We present an all-electron study of the dynamical density-response function of hexagonal close-packed transition metals Sc and Ti. We elucidate various aspects of the interplay between the crystal structure and the electron dynamics by investigating the loss function, and the associated dielectric function, for wave-vector transfers perpendicular and parallel to the hexagonal plane. As expected...
