چکیده

The continuous-time histories programme stems from the consistent histories approach to quantum theory and aims to provide a fully covariant formalism for quantum mechanics. In this paper we examine some structural points of the formalism. We demonstrate a general construction of history Hilbert spaces and identify a large class of time-averaged observables. We pay particular attention to the construction of the decoherence functional (the object that encodes probability information) in the continuous-time limit and its relation to the temporal structure of the theory. Phase space observables are introduced, through the study of general representations of the history group, which is the analogue of the canonical group in the formalism. We can also define a closed-timepath (CTP) generating functional for each observable, which encodes the information of its correlation functions. The phase space version of the CTP generating functional leads to the implementation of a Wigner-Weyl transforms, that gives a description of quantum theory solely in terms of phase space histories. These results allow the identification of an algorithm for going to the classical (stochastic) limit for a generic quantum system. [email protected]

0 Continuous - time histories : observables , probabilities , phase space structure and the classical limit

In this paper we elaborate on the structure of the continuous-time histories description of quantum theory, which stems from the consistent histories scheme. In particular, we examine the construction of history Hilbert space, the identification of history observables and the form of the decoherence functional (the object that contains the probability information). It is shown how the latter is...

Quantum theory without Hilbert spaces

Quantum theory does not only predict probabilities, but also relative phases for any experiment, that involves measurements of an ensemble of systems at different moments of time. We argue, that any operational formulation of quantum theory needs an algebra of observables and an object that incorporates the information about relative phases and probabilities. The latter is the (de)coherence fun...

In this paper we try to formulate the Berezin quantization on projective Hilbert space P(H) and use its geometric structure to construct a correspondence between a given classical theory and a given quantum theory. It wil be shown that the star product in berezin quantization is equivalent to the Posson bracket on coherent states manifold M, embodded in P(H), and the Berezin method is used to...

Dynamical Evolution in Noncommutative Discrete Phase Space and the Derivation of Classical Kinetic Equations

By considering a lattice model of extended phase space, and using techniques of noncommutative differential geometry, we are led to: (a) the conception of vector fields as generators of motion and transition probability distributions on the lattice; (b) the emergence of the time direction on the basis of the encoding of probabilities in the lattice structure; (c) the general prescription for th...

Classical Mechanics as Quantum Mechanics with Innnitesimal { H

We develop an approach to the classical limit of quantum theory using the mathematical framework of nonstandard analysis. In this framework innnitesimal quantities have a rigorous meaning, and the quantum mechanical parameter h can be chosen to be such an innnitesimal. We consider those bounded observables which are transformed continuously on the standard (non-innnitesimal) scale by the phase ...
