چکیده

An ad hoc wireless mobile network is an infrastructure-less mobile network that has no fixed routers; instead, all nodes are capable of movement and can be connected dynamically in an arbitrary manner. In order to facilitate communication of mobile nodes that may not be within the wireless range of each other, an efficient routing protocol is used to discover routes between nodes so that messages may be delivered in a timely manner. In this paper, we present a novel Load-Balanced Ad hoc Routing (LBAR) protocol for communication in wireless ad hoc networks. LBAR defines a new metric for routing known as the degree of nodal activity to represent the load on a mobile node. In LBAR routing information on all paths from source to destination are forwarded through setup messages to the destination. Setup messages include nodal activity information of all nodes on the traversed path. After collecting information on all possible paths, the destination then makes a selection of the path with the best-cost value and sends an acknowledgement to the source node. LBAR also provides an alternate path maintenance technique to patch up broken links by detouring traffic to the destination. A comprehensive simulation study was conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme. Performance results show that LBAR outperforms existing ad hoc routing protocols in terms of packet delivery and average end-to-end delay. q 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

QoS-Aware Multipath Communications over MANETs

To enhance the Quality of service (QoS) communications over mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), this paper proposes QoS-Aware Multipath Routing Protocol (QMRP). Delay is the most crucial factor for multimedia applications which can be minimized by providing more than one path between source-destination pair as well as choosing the path based on the quality in terms of reliability and stability of ...

Comparative Performance Analysis of AODV,DSR, TORA and OLSR Routing Protocols in MANET Using OPNET

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are receiving a significant interest and are becoming very popular in the world of wireless networks and telecommunication. MANETs consist of mobile nodes which can communicate with each other without any infrastructure or centralized administration. In MANETs, the movement of nodes is unpredictable and complex; thus making the routing of the packets challenging....

Load Aware and Load Balancing using AOMDV Routing in MANET

-Effective load balancing has been a demanding task in MANET due to their dynamic and un-predictable nature and topology change. Nodes in MANETs greatly differ with each other in terms of communication and processing power. For effective working of MANET multiple routing backbones are identified from source to destination using intermediate nodes that have better communication and processing ca...

Analysis and Simulations of Routing Protocols with Different Load Conditions of MANETs

In this paper, we have compared important characteristics of MANET proactive routing protocol (DSDV), reactive protocols (AODV, DSR and TORA) and hybrid protocol (ZRP). Extensive simulations are being carried out with different load conditions of MANETs. The offered network loads in the performance plots are characterized by three parameters i.e. packet size, number of connections i.e. source d...

Integrated Energy-Aware Mechanism for MANETs using On-demand Routing

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are multi-hop wireless networks in which all nodes cooperatively maintain network connectivity. In such a multi-hop wireless network, every node may be required to perform routing in order to achieve end-to-end communication among nodes. These networks are energy constrained as most ad hoc mobile nodes today operate with limited battery power. Hence, it is import...
