AI Technologies for Tactical Edge Networks
نویسنده
چکیده
The field of adaptable communication networks is a rich application area for artificial intelligence technology. Recent developments in software defined radio technology have created the opportunity to develop networks that are, in principle, highly adaptable and effective under a much wider range of operating conditions than currently possible, but few researchers are addressing the issue of how to take advantage of this new flexibility. This paper briefly discusses some of the Artificial Intelligence techniques that can and have been be leveraged in this domain.

Semantic Agent Technologies for Tactical Sensor Networks
Recent advances in wireless communication and microelectronics have enabled the development of low-cost sensor devices leading to interest in large-scale sensor networks for military applications. Sensor networks consist of large numbers of networked sensors that can be dynamically deployed and used for tactical situational awareness. One critical challenge is how to dynamically integrate these...
متن کاملA Cautionary Tale on Testing and Evaluating Tactical Wireless Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
Transformation dictates that the nature of future warfare will be network-centric where netcentricity is contingent on a ubiquitous network. At issue are the capabilities that this network must have to make network-centric operations (NCO) possible. Wireline and commercial wireless technologies have colored the expectations of what is possible and, in many cases, the requirements for the networ...
متن کاملTactical Applications of Heterogeneous Ad Hoc Networks – Cognitive Radios, Wireless Sensor Networks and COTS in Networked Mobile Operations
Military tactical communications systems will be facing great challenges in the near future. Performance of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies is improving at fast pace while at the same time life cycles of military equipment seem to remain long. The goal of this paper is to highlight a few interesting applications where development efforts of cognitive radio (CR), wireless sensor net...
متن کاملMilitary Ontologies for Information Dissemination at the Tactical Edge
In this paper we present our methodology for constructing the Tactical Heterogenous Ontology Representation (THOR), a doctrine-based military ontology that models numerous aspects of the military domain as described by field manuals, joint publications, and scenarios informed by subject matter experts. Developed for DARPA’s Content-Based Mobile Edge Network (CBMEN) program, the ontology provide...
متن کاملEdge-tenacity in Networks
Numerous networks as, for example, road networks, electrical networks and communication networks can be modeled by a graph. Many attempts have been made to determine how well such a network is "connected" or stated differently how much effort is required to break down communication in the system between at least some nodes. Two well-known measures that indicate how "reliable" a graph is are the...
