چکیده

Thus far, KIC 7760680 is the richest slowly pulsating B star, exhibiting 36 consecutive dipole (l = 1) gravity (g-) modes. The monotonically decreasing period spacing of the series, in addition to the local dips in the pattern, confirm that KIC 7760680 is a moderate rotator with clear mode trapping in chemically inhomogeneous layers. We employ the traditional approximation of rotation to incorporate rotational effects on g-mode frequencies. Our detailed forward asteroseismic modeling of this g-mode series reveals that KIC 7760680 is a moderately rotating B star with mass ∼3.25Me. By simultaneously matching the slope of the period spacing and the number of modes in the observed frequency range, we deduce that the equatorial rotation frequency of KIC 7760680 is 0.4805 day, which is 26% of its Roche break up frequency. The relative deviation of the model frequencies and those observed is less than 1%. We succeed in tightly constraining the exponentially decaying convective core overshooting parameter to fov ≈ 0.024 ± 0.001. This means that convective core overshooting can coexist with moderate rotation. Moreover, models with exponentially decaying overshoot from the core outperform those with the classical step-function overshoot. The best value for extra diffusive mixing in the radiatively stable envelope is confined to »  D log 0.75 0.25 ext (with Dext in cm 2 s), which is notably smaller than theoretical predictions.

The effects of near-core convective shells on the gravity modes of the subdwarf B pulsator KIC 10553698A

KIC 10553698A is a hot pulsating subdwarf B (sdB) star observed by the Kepler satellite. It exhibits dipole (l = 1) and quadrupole (l = 2) gravity modes with a clear period spacing structure. The seismic properties of the KIC 10553698A provide a test of stellar evolution models, and offer a unique opportunity to determine mixing processes. We consider mixing due to convective overshooting beyon...

Asteroseismic modelling of the two F-type hybrid pulsators KIC 10080943A and KIC 10080943B

Context. Pulsating binary stars are ideal targets for testing the theory of stellar structure and evolution. Fundamental parameters can be derived to high precision from binary modelling and provide crucial constraints for seismic modelling. High-order gravity modes are sensitive to the conditions near the convective core and therefore allow for a determination of parameters describing interior...

Effects of “extra-mixing” processes on the periods of high-order gravity modes in main-sequence stars

In main-sequence stars, the chemical composition gradient that develops at the edge of the convective core is responsible for a non-uniform period spacing of high-order gravity modes. In this work we investigate, in the case of a 1.6 M⊙ star, the effects on the period-spacing of extra mixing processes in the core (such as diffusion and overshooting). Effects of overshooting and diffusion on the...

The layered structure in exchange flows between two basins (Middle and Southern basins of the Caspian Sea)

Ocean waters often show layered structures especially where exchange flow between two basins occurs. These structures are often attributed to processes such as double.diffusive convection, internal waves, turbulent modulated mixing. In this paper by examining the vertical structures of temperature, salinity and density, of the middle parts of Caspian Sea it is shown that such layered structure ...
