Operator Adjustable Equalizers: An Overview

چکیده

• References Introduction This paper presents an overview of operator adjustable equalizers in the professional audio industry. The term “operator adjustable equalizers” is no doubt a bit vague and cumbersome. For this, the author apologizes. Needed was a term to differentiate between fixed equalizers and variable equalizers. Fixed equalizers, such as pre-emphasis and de-emphasis circuits, phono RIAA and tape NAB circuits, and others, are subject matter unto themselves, but not the concern of this survey. Variable equalizers, however, such as graphics and parametrics are very much the subject of this paper, hence the term, “operator adjustable equalizers.” That is what they are—equalizers adjustable by operators—as opposed to built-in, non-adjustable, fixed circuits. Without belaboring the point too much, it is important in the beginning to clarify and use precise terminology. Much confusion surrounds users of variable equalizers due to poorly understood terminology. What types of variable equalizers exist? Why so many? Which one is best? What type of circuits prevail? What kind of filters? Who makes what? Hopefully, the answers lie within these pages, but first, a little history.

An Experimental Study on Assembly Workstation Considering Ergonomically Issues

This paper describes the results of an experimental study conducted to investigate the effects of assembly of a product on operator performance. A fully adjustable ergonomically designed assembly workstation (smart workstation) was used for the experiment. Ten college students (five boys group and five girls group) randomly assigned into three experimental conditions (table adjustable, chair ad...

Chip-Level Channel Equalization in WCDMA Downlink

The most important third generation (3G) cellular communications standard is based on wideband CDMA (WCDMA). Receivers based on TDMA style channel equalization at the chip level have been proposed for a WCDMA downlink employing long spreading sequences to ensure adequate performance even with a high number of active users. These receivers equalize the channel prior to despreading, thus restorin...

Mixed-Initiative Adjustable Autonomy in Multi-Vehicle Operations

Unmanned systems must provide robust operations despite dynamic levels of human workload, trust, and mission requirements. One of the promising approaches to this problem is adjustable autonomy, which allows for shifting decision-making responsibility between vehicle and operator. This enables the overall system to adapt to changes during mission execution, but presents several challenges inclu...

Adaptive Equalization Algorithms:An Overview

The recent digital transmission systems impose the application of channel equalizers with short training time and high tracking rate. Equalization techniques compensate for the time dispersion introduced by communication channels and combat the resulting inter-symbol interference (ISI) effect. Given a channel of unknown impulse response, the purpose of an adaptive equalizer is to operate on the...

Impact of two Adjustable Autonomy Models 1 TOPIC CHOICE: Automation, Expert Systems IMPACT OF TWO ADJUSTABLE AUTONOMY MODELS ON THE SCALABILITY OF SINGLE-HUMAN-MULTIPLE-ROBOT TEAMS FOR EXPLORATION MISSIONS

Objective: Evaluate two models for adjusting autonomy in mobile robots, seeking to find out what is the best way for the operator to interact with the system with as many robots as possible. The first model is the most used in mobile robots, the second proposes a flexible autonomy management. Background: There are different ways of adjusting the autonomy level in man-machine systems: “Adjustabl...
