Blur-Resilient Tracking Using Group Sparsity

چکیده
In this paper, a Blur Resilient target Tracking algorithm (BReT) is developed by modeling target appearance with a groupwise sparse approximation over a template set. Since blur templates of different directions are added to the template set to accommodate motion blur, there is a natural group structure among the templates. In order to enforce the solution of the sparse approximation problem to have group structure, we employ the mixed `1 + `1/`2 norm to regularize the model coefficients. Having observed the similarity of gradient distributions in the blur templates of the same direction, we further boost the tracking robustness by including gradient histograms in the appearance model. Then, we use an accelerated proximal gradient scheme to develop an efficient algorithm for the non-smooth optimization resulted from the representation. After that, blur estimation is performed by investigating the energy of the coefficients, and when the estimated target can be well approximated by the normal templates, we dynamically update the template set to reduce the drifting problem. Experimental results show that the proposed BReT algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art trackers on blurred sequences.

Visual Tracking for Augmented Reality
In Augmented Reality applications, the real environment is annotated or enhanced with computer-generated graphics. These graphics must be exactly registered to real objects in the scene and this requires AR systems to track a user’s viewpoint. This thesis shows that visual tracking with inexpensive cameras (such as those now often built into mobile computing devices) can be sufficiently robust ...
متن کاملMotion-blur-free video shooting system based on frame-by-frame intermittent tracking
In this paper, a concept of frame-by-frame intermittent tracking to achieve motion-blur-free and high-brightness images when video shooting fast moving scenes is proposed. In our tracking concept, two control methods are applied alternately at hundreds of hertz, according to the open or closed shutter state of the camera. When the shutter is open, the target’s speed in images is controlled at z...
متن کاملBlind Image Deblurring Using Row-Column Sparse Representations
Blind image deblurring is a particularly challenging inverse problem where the blur kernel is unknown and must be estimated en route to recover the deblurred image. The problem is of strong practical relevance since many imaging devices such as cellphone cameras, must rely on deblurring algorithms to yield satisfactory image quality. Despite significant research effort, handling large motions r...

In existing sparsity-driven inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging framework a sparse recovery (SR) algorithm is usually applied to azimuth compression to achieve high resolution in the cross-range direction. For range compression, however, direct application of an SR algorithm is not very effective because the scattering centers resolved in the high resolution range profiles at differ...
متن کاملChange Detection in the Presence of Motion Blur and Rolling Shutter Effect
The coalesced presence of motion blur and rolling shutter effect is unavoidable due to the sequential exposure of sensor rows in CMOS cameras. We address the problem of detecting changes in an image affected by motion blur and rolling shutter artifacts with respect to a reference image. Our framework bundles modelling of motion blur in global shutter and rolling shutter cameras into a single en...
