Direct Obstacle Detection and Motion from Spatio-Temporal Derivatives
نویسنده
چکیده
Autonomous vehicles need a means of detecting obstructions on its path, to avoid collision. In this paper, a novel approach to obstacle detection is presented. A camera moves on a visible ground plane with the optical axis parallel to the ground. Camera motion parameters are linearly related to rst order spatio-temporal derivatives of the taken image sequence; image ow is not needed. Motion is robustly estimated using RANSAC. An error measure for each image point corresponds to the likelihood of an obstacle in that point.

Spatio-Temporal Parameters' Changes in Gait of Male Elderly Subjects
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare spatio-temporal gait parameters between elderly and young male subjects. Methods & Materials: 57 able-bodied elderly (72±5.5 years) and 57 healthy young (25±8.5 years) subjects participated in this study. A four segment model consist of trunk, hip, shank, and foot with 10 reflective markers were used to define lower limbs. Kinematic data c...
متن کاملVelocity adaptation of spatio-temporal receptive fields for direct recognition of activities: an experimental study
This article presents an experimental study of the influence of velocity adaptation when recognizing spatio-temporal patterns using a histogram-based statistical framework. The basic idea consists of adapting the shapes of the filter kernels to the local direction of motion, so as to allow the computation of image descriptors that are invariant to the relative motion in the image plane between ...
متن کاملSpatio-Temporal Variation of Suspended Sediment Concentration at Downstream of a Sand Mine
The growing population led to greater human need to use natural resources such as sand and gravel mines. Direct removal of sands from the bed river leads to increase suspended sediment concentrations in downstream of harvested area and creates other problems viz. filling reservoirs, change in hydraulic characteristics of the channel and environmental damages. However, the range of temporal and ...
متن کاملModel-based brightness constraints: on direct estimation of structure and motion
ÐWe describe a new direct method for estimating structure and motion from image intensities of multiple views. We extend the direct methods of Horn and Weldon [18] to three views. Adding the third view enables us to solve for motion and compute a dense depth map of the scene, directly from image spatio-temporal derivatives in a linear manner without first having to find point correspondences or...
متن کاملDirect Optimal Motion Planning for Omni-directional Mobile Robots under Limitation on Velocity and Acceleration
This paper describes a low computational direct approach for optimal motion planning and obstacle avoidance of Omni-directional mobile robots within velocity and acceleration constraints on the robot motion. The main purpose of this problem is the minimization of a quadratic cost function while limitation on velocity and acceleration of robot is considered and collision with any obstacle in the...
