Bio-electrical stimulation therapy using POSiFECT®RD
نویسنده
چکیده
In recent years, the variety of products available for treating and managing wounds has expanded considerably. In spite of the numerous options available, however, many wounds remain nonhealing. As interest in treating chronic wounds has grown, so has interest and research into novel treatment modalities such as bio-electric stimulation therapy. Electric stimulation has been around in healthcare applications for many years, but attempts to establish its use in wound healing have not yet met with great success (Malone, 2003). An exhaustive review of the experimental and clinical evidence in the literature relating to electrical stimulation in tissue repair can be found in a paper published by Kloth (2005).

Modelling the cost-utility of bio-electric stimulation therapy compared to standard care in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic non-healing wounds in the UK.
OBJECTIVE To estimate the cost-utility of bio-electric stimulation therapy (Posifect) compared to standard care in elderly patients with chronic, non-healing wounds of > 6 months duration, from the perspective of the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK. METHODS Clinical and resource use data from a 16 week clinical evaluation of bio-electric stimulation therapy among patients who had reca...
متن کاملElectrical Stimulation of Inner Retinal Neurons in Wild-Type and Retinally Degenerate (rd/rd) Mice
Electrical stimulation of the retina following photoreceptor degeneration in diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration has become a promising therapeutic strategy for the restoration of vision. Many retinal neurons remain functional following photoreceptor degeneration; however, the responses of the different classes of cells to electrical stimuli have not been ...

Increasing the Effectiveness of Carbamazepine by Low Frequency Electrical Stimulation During CA1 Hippocampal Kindling on Seizure Scales in Adult Male Rats: An Experimental Study
Background and Objectives Nowadays, the application of Low Frequency Stimulations (LFS) has been considered as an alternative treatment in drug-resistant epileptic patients. So, the aim of this study was to determine the co-administration effects of LFS and carbamazepine (CBZ) during epileptogenesis in dorsal hippocampus using electrical Kindling method on seizure scales in adult male rats. ...
متن کاملControl of epileptic seizures by electrical low frequency deep brain stimulation: A review of probable mechanisms
Epilepsy is the most common neurological disease with no definitive method in treatment. Notably, the main way to treat and control epileptic seizures is drug therapy. However, about 20-30% of patients with epilepsy are drug resistant and require other therapeutic manners. Deep brain stimulation is a new therapeutic strategy for these patients. Conspicuously, there are no clear answers for basi...
