چکیده

The response of bright and dark solitons to rapid variations in an expulsive longitudinal trap is investigated. We concentrate on the effect of transient changes in the trap frequency in the form of temporal delta kicks and the hyperbolic cotangent functions. Exact expressions are obtained for the soliton profiles. This is accomplished using the fact that a suitable linear Schrödinger stationary state solution in time can be effectively combined with the solutions of non-linear Schrödinger equation, for obtaining solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation with time dependent scattering length in a harmonic trap. Interestingly, there is rapid pulse amplification in certain scenarios. PACS number(s) : 03.75-b, 05.45.Yv

Free Vibration and Transient Response of Heterogeneous Piezoelectric Sandwich Annular Plate Using Third-Order Shear Deformation Assumption

Based on the third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT), this paper numerically investigates the natural frequencies and time response of three-layered annular plate with functionally graded materials (FGMs) sheet core and piezoelectric face sheets, under initial external electric voltage. The impressive material specifications of FGM core are assumed to vary continuously across the plate thic...

Bound states of attractive Bose-Einstein condensates in shallow traps in two and three dimensions

Using variational and numerical solutions of the mean-field Gross-Pitaevskii equation for attractive interaction (with cubic or Kerr nonlinearity) we show that a stable bound state can appear in a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in a localized exponentially-screened radially-symmetric harmonic potential well in two and three dimensions. We also consider an axially-symmetric configuration with ze...

Influence of trap states on dynamic properties of single grain silicon thin film transistors

The transient properties of single grain–thin film transistors SG-TFTs with high electron mobility have been studied. Overshoot current induced by trap states has been observed in most of the devices. A method of ac measurements has been used to investigate the trap processes. Both transient and ac measurements show that the response of some SG-TFTs with high field effect mobility is dominated ...

Dissipative dynamics of matter-wave solitons in a nonlinear optical lattice

Dynamics and stability of solitons in two-dimensional 2D Bose-Einstein condensates BEC , with onedimensional 1D conservative plus dissipative nonlinear optical lattices, are investigated. In the case of focusing media with attractive atomic systems , the collapse of the wave packet is arrested by the dissipative periodic nonlinearity. The adiabatic variation of the background scattering length ...

Internal structure of a quantum soliton and classical excitations due to trap opening

Abstract. We analytically solve two problems that may be useful in the context of the recent observation of matter wave bright solitons in a one-dimensional attractive atomic Bose gas. The first problem is strictly beyond mean field: From the Bethe ansatz solution we extract the internal correlation function of the particle positions in the quantum soliton, that is for a fixed center of mass po...
