چکیده

The in vitro activities of 10 antimicrobial agents against 159 bacterial vaginosis-associated anaerobic isolates from pregnant Japanese and Thai women were determined. Clindamycin, imipenem, cefmetazole, amoxicillin, amoxicillin-clavulanate, and metronidazole were highly active against all anaerobic isolates except Prevotella bivia and Mobiluncus species, which were resistant to amoxicillin and metronidazole, respectively. Cefotiam, ceftazidime, and ofloxacin were variably effective, while cefaclor was the least effective agent.

بررسی شیوع گاردنرلا واژینالیس در زنان مبتلا به واژینوز باکتریایی و غیر باکتریایی مراجعه کننده به کلینیک زنان بیمارستان امام حسین(ع) در بهار و تابستان 1395

Background & Aims: Developing bacterial vaginosis is of high prevalence especially in pregnant women. The most common causes of bacterial vaginosis are anaerobic microorganisms such as Gardnerella vaginalis. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of Gardenerella vaginalis isolated in women with bacterial and non-bacterial vaginosis. Materials & Methods: The study was con...

Comparison of the in vitro activities of fenticonazole, other imidazoles, metronidazole, and tetracycline against organisms associated with bacterial vaginosis and skin infections.

The in vitro antibacterial activity of the antifungal compound fenticonazole was compared with those of clotrimazole, miconazole, tetracycline, and metronidazole against 177 strains of bacterial species associated with either bacterial vaginosis (BV) or skin infections by agar dilution MIC determinations. BV-associated Bacteroides isolates of the Bacteroides melaninogenicus-B. oralis group, Gar...

Antagonistic Activity of Bacteriocin- Producing Lactobacillus local isolates against some pathogenic bacterial species

Background and Objective: Lactobacilli are known for their probiotic activities and potential to combat pathogens. This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial activity of Lactobacillus strains isolated from various sources against pathogenic bacteria, with the objective of identifying potential bacteriocin producers. Methods: A total of 140 samples were collected from different sources. ...

In vitro activities of Garenoxacin (BMS 284756) against 108 clinical isolates of Gardnerella vaginalis.

Garenoxacin (BMS 284756) was active against 105 of 108 (97%) recent clinical Gardnerella vaginalis isolates at < or =2 micro g/ml by using the reference agar dilution method for anaerobes. Twenty-eight percent of isolates (31 of 108) were resistant to metronidazole, and 44% were resistant to doxycycline. All were susceptible to clindamycin and ampicillin-sulbactam.

In vitro activities of telavancin and six comparator agents against anaerobic bacterial isolates.

The antimicrobial activities of telavancin and six comparators were evaluated against 460 isolates of anaerobic bacteria. Telavancin demonstrated excellent activity against gram-positive anaerobes (MIC90, 2 microg/ml) and was the most potent agent tested against Clostridium difficile (MIC90, 0.25 microg/ml). As expected, gram-negative isolates were not inhibited by telavancin.
