Activities: A Modeling Methodology

The concepts of activity and activity graphs are introduced. The notion of activity is a versatile tool for modeling in general. We will focus on applications to knowledge-based engineering and model-driven programming. The combinatory model is suitable for modeling intelligent agents acting on (a subset) of the feature-based design and manufacturing processes. This is an instance of a more general ontological commitment context. Particularly, the problem of assembling complex components from simple ones is formulated as an equation in the combinatory algebra of (generalized) functionality types. The consistency restrictions are represented by connectivity type matching .
