Helac - a Monte Carlo Generator for Multi-jet Processes
نویسنده
چکیده
The possibility of identifying new physics relies on predictions of multi jet final states at current and future collider experiments like TeVatron or LHC. Signals for many models beyond the SM involve a large number of jets resulting from decay chains of particles with high masses. Their Monte Carlo (MC) simulation, both for signal and background is of crucial importance for the success of experiments. One of the ways to simulate multi jet events is to use exact matrix elements at some given order of perturbation theory in the strong coupling constant αs. The matrix elements for fully exclusive final states for many jets which we have at our disposal in most cases are at leading order. The advantage of this approach consists of having exact results with all interference effects taken into account properly. The main disadvantage is that more and more diagrams have to be considered when

Report of the Qcd Working Group
The activities of the QCD working group concentrated on improving the understanding and Monte Carlo simulation of multi-jet final states due to hard QCD processes at LEP, i.e. quark-antiquark plus multi-gluon and/or secondary quark production, with particular emphasis on four-jet final states and b-quark mass effects. Specific topics covered are: relevant developments in the main event generato...
متن کاملPHEGAS: a phase-space generator for automatic cross-section computation
A phase-space generation algorithm, capable to efficiently integrate the squared amplitude of any scattering process, is presented. The algorithm has been implemented in a Monte Carlo program, PHEGAS, which, using HELAC, a helicity amplitude computational package, can be used for automatic cross-section computation and event generation. Results for several scattering processes with four, five a...
متن کاملHELAC-PHEGAS: automatic computation of helicity amplitudes and cross sections
HELAC-PHEGAS is a FORTRAN based package that is able to compute automatically and efficiently treeorder helicity amplitudes and cross sections for arbitrary scattering processes within the standard electroweak theory and QCD. The algorithm for the amplitude computation, HELAC, exploits the virtues of the Dyson-Schwinger equations. The phase-space generation algorithm, PHEGAS, constructs all pos...
متن کاملSaturation effects in final states due to CCFM with absorptive boundary
We apply the absorptive boundary prescription to include saturation effects in CCFM evolution equation. We are in particular interested in saturation effects in exclusive processes which can be studied using Monte Carlo event generator CASCADE. We calculate cross section for three-jet production and distribution of charged hadrons.
متن کاملQCD at the Tevatron
Recent measurements of selected QCD processes at the Tevatron are reviewed and confronted with theoretical calculations. Results on inclusive jet production at large transverse momentum (pT ) are compared to predictions from next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD (pQCD). Kinematic distributions of jets with light and heavy flavor produced in association with electroweak bosons are compare...
