Identifying Splice-Junction Sequences by Hierarchical Multiclassifier
نویسندگان
چکیده
Splice sites are locations in DNA which separate protein-coding regions (exons) from noncoding regions (introns). Recently, several works have approached the splice-junction problem by applying methods from the field of machine learning techniques. In this work, we propose a hierarchical multiclassifier (HM) architecture, whose results show a drastically error reduction with respect to the performance of methods proposed in the literature. 2006 Elsevier B.V. The Conserved Exon Method for Gene Finding
A new approach to gene finding is introduced called the "Conserved Exon Method" (CEM). It is based on the idea of looking for conserved protein sequences by comparing pairs of DNA sequences, identifying putative exon pairs based on conserved regions and splice junction signals then chaining pairs of putative exons together. It simultaneously predicts gene structures in both human and mouse geno...
متن کاملA catalogue of splice junction sequences.
Splice junction sequences from a large number of nuclear and viral genes encoding protein have been collected. The sequence CAAG/GTAGAGT was found to be a consensus of 139 exon-intron boundaries (or donor sequences) and (TC)nNCTAG/G was found to be a consensus of 130 intron-exon boundaries (or acceptor sequences). The possible role of splice junction sequences as signals for processing is discu...
متن کاملExon Junction Sequences as Cryptic Splice Sites Implications for Intron Origin
Introns are flanked by a partially conserved coding sequence that forms the immediate exon junction sequence following intron removal from pre-mRNA. Phylogenetic evidence indicates that these sequences have been targeted by numerous intron insertions during evolution, but little is known about this process. Here, we test the prediction that exon junction sequences were functional splice sites t...
متن کاملAssessment of genetic diversity among and within Iranian chamomile populations using semi random intron-exon splice junction (ISJ) markers
Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla), an important medicinal plant belonging to the Asteraceae family, has a wide distribution in Iran and other parts of the world. The medicinal and pharmacological effects of chamomile are mainly associated with its essential oil content and it is widely used in food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. Despite its wide geographical distribution in Iran, lit...
متن کاملSplice Graphs and their Vertex-Degree-Based Invariants
Let G_1 and G_2 be simple connected graphs with disjoint vertex sets V(G_1) and V(G_2), respectively. For given vertices a_1in V(G_1) and a_2in V(G_2), a splice of G_1 and G_2 by vertices a_1 and a_2 is defined by identifying the vertices a_1 and a_2 in the union of G_1 and G_2. In this paper, we present exact formulas for computing some vertex-degree-based graph invariants of splice of graphs.
