A spectroscopic study of coronal dimming associated with a coronal mass ejection
نویسندگان
چکیده
Extreme ultraviolet spectroscopic observations of one coronal mass ejection event are used to examine the onset phase of the eruption. We find significant dimming of million K plasmas in the low corona under the ascending CME, the activation of an adjacent prominence and 2 million K ‘hot spots’ which may be associated with the CME footpoints. In particular, we show that the dimming is due to a density decrease from million K plasma loss. We compare the mass loss with the CME mass. The observations suggest that the interaction of adjacent coronal loops plays an important role in CME activity and may allow us to pinpoint the source of the CME material.

Solar Mini-Dimming Kinematics and Their Positive Correlations with Coronal Mass Ejections and Prominence
Solar mini-dimmings can be detect in the Extreme Ultra-Violet coronal eruptions. Here, sequences of 171_A images taken by Solar Dynamic Observatory/Atmospheric Imaging Assembaly on 13 June 2010 are used. In this special day, both of coronal mass ejection and prominence were observed. The average velocities and accelerations of 500 mini-dimmings which were detected using on feature based classif...
متن کاملSoho Eit Observations of Extreme-ultraviolet “dimming” Associated with a Halo Coronal Mass Ejection
A solar flare was observed on 1997 April 7 with the Soft X-ray Telescope (SXT) on Yohkoh. The flare was associated with a “halo” coronal mass ejection (CME). The flaring region showed areas of reduced soft X-ray (SXR) brightness—“dimmings”—that developed prior to the CME observed in white light and persisted for several hours following the CME. The most prominent dimming regions were located ne...
متن کاملYohkoh Sxt Observations of X-ray “dimming” Associated with a Halo Coronal Mass Ejection
A sudden depletion or intensity “dimming” of the X-ray corona sometimes accompanies a solar eruptive flare or coronal mass ejection (CME). We have identified a dimming that occurred just prior to a “halo” CME, observed on 1997 April 7 using the Soft X-ray Telescope (SXT) on Yohkoh. Halo CMEs are prime candidates for “space weather” effects. The dimming occurred in compact regions near a flare o...

Carson King 8/2/17 Title: A Comparison of Coronal Dimming Behavior Between XRT and AIA Data Authors: Carson King, Mark Weber, Patricia Jibben A coronal dimming is an event that takes place in the sun’s atmosphere, in which a patch of bright plasma seemingly disappears leaving a dark spot. These events are often associated with other solar phenomena such as flares and coronal mass ejections. Ove...

Context. The investigation covers the complex subject of coronal waves and the phenomena contributing to and/or causing their formation. Aims. The objectives of the present study is to provide a better physical understanding of the complex inter-relation and evolution of several solar coronal features comprising a double-peak flare, a coronal dimming caused by a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), a C...
