Use of an Endograft from the External to the Internal Iliac Artery to Treat a Perforation of the Common Iliac Artery
نویسنده
چکیده
An increase in the number of endovascular procedures has let to a concomitant increase in iatrogenic arterial lesions such as catheter-induced arterial perforation or vessel rupture after PTA. The traditional way of treating these problems is by way of an open surgical approach, balloon tamponade, insertion of uncovered stents or covering the rupture site with an endograft. The present case describes a new technique for treating catheter-induced perforation of the common iliac artery during an attempt to recanalise an occlusion of this vessel. This complication was treated by insertion of an endograft from the external to the internal iliac artery to exclude flow to the perforated common iliac artery.

The Arterial Pattern of Terminal Branch of the Abdominal Aorta in the Male Persian Squirrel (Sciurus Anomalus)
Introduction: The Persian squirrel (Sciurus anomalus) is considered the only well-known species of the family Sciuridae in the Middle East. Since some people keep this squirrel as a domestic pet, their attendance at veterinary clinics is increasing. So far, no study has been conducted on the arterial supply of the pelvic cavity and limb in the squirrel. Hence, this research was performed to fil...
متن کاملExternal iliac artery-to-internal iliac artery endograft: a novel approach to preserve pelvic inflow in aortoiliac stent grafting.
PURPOSE To describe four patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm and bilateral common iliac artery aneurysms repaired by coil embolization of the ipsilateral internal iliac artery, aortouniiliac endograft extended to the ipsilateral external iliac artery, femorofemoral bypass grafting, and a contralateral external iliac to internal iliac stent graft to preserve pelvic perfusion. METHODS Four ...

Understanding anatomical variations can help physicians achieve better results in clinical practice. During routine dissection, we found variations in the branches of Internal Iliac Artery (IIA) of a 65-year-old Iranian female cadaver. The IIA ended by dividing to an unusual smaller anterior and a greater posterior trunk which was branched to the inferior gluteal arteries. Both pelvis and the u...
متن کاملManagement of ectatic, nonaneurysmal iliac arteries during endoluminal aortic aneurysm repair.
PURPOSE Most endografts for an endoluminal AAA repair cannot achieve an adequate hemostatic seal in ectatic common iliac arteries larger than 14 mm. The extension of the endograft into the external iliac artery can alleviate this problem but requires sacrifice of the internal iliac artery. We have used the larger diameter aortic extension cuff to obtain adequate endograft to arterial wall appos...
