QoE Driven Video Streaming over Cognitive Radio Networks for Multi-User with Single Channel Access

چکیده
A study by Cisco indicates a drastic increase in mobile data and that almost 66% of the mobile data was videorelated by 2015 [1]. Such dramatic increase in wireless video traffic, coupled with the depleting spectrum resource, poses great challenges to today’s wireless networks. It is of great importance to improve the wireless network capacity by promoting more efficient use of spectrum, which can be accomplished by the cognitive radio (CR) technology. CR is an evolutionary technology for more efficient and flexible access to the radio spectrum. In a cognitive radio network (CRN), Cognitive Users (CUs) search for the unoccupied licensed spectrum of the Primary User (PU) network and then opportunistically access detected spectrum holes in an unobtrusive manner. CR has been recognized as an effective approach to support bandwidth-demanding mobile services such as wireless video streaming [2].

Quality of experience-driven low-delay error-resilient video communication
With broadband access becoming increasingly common, even in mobile environments, the demand for video services, such as video streaming and video telephony, is growing rapidly. However, delivering satisfactory video services over today’s communication networks is still a very challenging task. The objective of this thesis is to achieve improved Quality of Experience (QoE) for video services wit...
متن کاملMultiple Framework QoE Model based Energy Efficient Transmission Strategy in LTE Networks
Wireless technology is continuously evolving, and the development of new versions of adaptive protocols and mechanisms are at their peak to achieve high performance in network-based applications and services. LTE networks offer broadband wireless access to users who can benefit from high data rate applications such as video streaming. However, the high energy consumption of these applications h...
متن کاملQoE Model for Video Delivered Over an LTE Network Using HTTP Adaptive Streaming
The end user quality of experience (QoE) of content delivered over a radio network is (mainly) infl uenced by the radio parameters in the radio access network. This paper will present a QoE model for video delivered over a radio network (e.g., Long Term Evolution (LTE)) using HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) adaptive streaming (HAS). The model is based on experiments performed in the context ...
متن کاملTowards User-centric Video Transmission in Next Generation Mobile Networks
At a time where video communication is the dominating traffic source in mobile networks, providing a satisfactory user experience is crucial for mobile network operators. On one hand, this is challenged by the mobile users’ demand for high-quality real-time video content with continuous playout. On the other hand, the access network is suffering from resource crunch with an increasing number of...
متن کاملMulti-channel Medium Access Control Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey
Extensive researches on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been performed and many techniques have been developed for the data link (MAC) layer. Most of them assume single-channel MAC protocols. In the usual dense deployment of the sensor networks, single-channel MAC protocols may be deficient because of radio collisions and limited bandwidth. Hence, using multiple channels can significantly ...
