Sensor Spatial Distortion, Visual Latency, and Update Rate Effects on 3D Tracking in Virtual Environments

چکیده
We examined the effects on human 3D tracking performance of several common defects of immersing virtual environments: spatial sensor distortion, visual latency and low update rates. Results show: 1) Removal of relatively small static distortion had minor effects on tracking accuracy, 2) An Adapted Cooper-Harper controllability scale proved the most sensitive subjective indicator of simulation degradation, and 3) RMS tracking error and subjective impressions were more influenced by changing visual latency than by update rate.

Target Tracking Based on Virtual Grid in Wireless Sensor Networks
One of the most important and typical application of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is target tracking. Although target tracking, can provide benefits for large-scale WSNs and organize them into clusters but tracking a moving target in cluster-based WSNs suffers a boundary problem. The main goal of this paper was to introduce an efficient and novel mobility management protocol namely Target Tr...
متن کاملComparison of Effectiveness of Presenting Images in Visual Education of Students on Brain Function
Background & Aim: Instead of being based on reality, theoretical approaches related to the occurrence of learning are more based on the observations by researchers. One of the approaches is the study of the effect of changes in virtual education based on the physiological approach. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of presentation of images in visual education on the brain function ...
متن کاملOn Positioning for Augmented Reality Systems
In Augmented Reality (AR), see-through Head Mounted Displays (HMDs) superimpose virtual 3D objects over the real world. They have the potential to enhance a user's perception and his interaction with the real world. However, many AR applications will not be accepted until we can accurately align virtual objects in the real world. One step to achieve better registration is to improve the trackin...
متن کاملMotion Sickness Side Effects and Aftereffects of Immersive Virtual Environments Created with Helmet- Mounted Visual Displays
We have investigated side effects and aftereffects evoked by moving the head to interact with a virtual environment (VE) shown in a helmet mounted visual display (HMD). The graphics computer of such a VE must monitor the HMD’s spatial orientation and position in order to present images from the proper perspective. Delays between head movements and image updating cause aberrant visual motion of ...
متن کاملHuman Hand Trajectory Analysis in Point-and-Direct Telerobotics
Human hand trajectories have been recorded and analyzed in an experimental supervisory control interface for a telerobot manipulator. Using a six degree-of-freedom tracking device to control the gripper of a computer graphics simulation model of the telerobot, human operators were instructed to command the telerobot under a variety of visual conditions. Analysis of the human hand trajectories s...
