چکیده

Transport models have successfully described many aspects of intermediate energy heavy-ion collision dynamics. As the energies increase in these models to the ultrarelativistic regime, Lorentz covariance and causality are not strictly respected. The standard argument is that such effects are not important to final results; but they have not been seriously considered at high energies. We point out how and why these happen, how serious of a problem they may be and suggest ways of reducing or eliminating the undesirable effects. Typeset using REVTEX

Modeling Magnetic Field in Heavy ion Collisions Using Two Different Nuclear Charge Density Distributions

By studying the properties of matter during heavy-ion collisions, a better understanding of the Quark-Gluon plasma is possible. One of the main areas of this study is the calculation of the magnetic field, particularly how the values of conductivity affects this field and how the field strength changes with proper time. In matching the theoretical calculations with results obtained in lab, two diffe...

Mean field effects in heavy-ion collisions at AGS energies

The question whether mean field effects exist in heavy-ion collisions at AGS energies is studied in the framework of A Relativistic Transport (ART) model. It is found that in central collisions of Au+Au at Pbeam/A =11.6 GeV/c a simple, Skyrme-type nuclear mean field satisfying the causality requirement reduces the maximum baryon and energy densities reached in the cascade model by about 30% and...

A Parton-Hadron Cascade Approach in High-energy Nuclear Collisions

Event generators based on perturbative QCD (pQCD) are proposed such as HIJING (Heavy Ion Jet Interaction Generator)[1], VNI (Vincent Le Cucurullo Con Giginello)[2], in order to describe ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions, especially, at collider energies (RHIC/LHC). Although both models reproduce many pp and p̄p data, there are large discrepancies in AA collisions between these two models, ...

INCL Intra-nuclear Cascade and ABLA De-excitation Models in Geant4

We present INCL intra-nuclear cascade and ABLA de-excitation (evaporation/fission) models that can be used to calculate collisions between projectile particles and nuclei at energies from 0.2 to 3 GeV. Supported projectiles are proton, neutron, pions and light ions up to alpha. The optimal target materials range from carbon to uranium. We have extended the INCL model light ion projectile suppor...

Strange Particle Production in Nuclear Collisions at Cern-na49

D. BARNA for the NA49 Collaboration Central Research Institute for Physics, Konkoly-Thege út 29-33, H-1121, Budapest, Hungary In order to quantify isospin effects in the comparison of elementary to nuclear collisions, p-p and n-p interactions have been studied in the NA49 experiment in addition to p-Pb and PbPb reactions. Together with first measurements of cascade hyperon and Ω production in p...
