Time Resolved Spectroscopy of a Nanosecond Pulsed Discharge in Water
نویسندگان
چکیده
A time revolved spectroscopic study of the emission phases occurring throughout a nanosecond pulsed discharge in water is presented. Discharged are ignited in deionized water via a submerged pin-t-plane electrode configuration by application of 24kV pulses with a rise time of 4ns and a duration of 10ns. Optical emission spectroscopy of the plasma radiation is performed, revealing a very complex nature of the excited species created.

Kinetic study of low temperature methane oxidation in a nanosecond repetitively pulsed dielectric barrier discharge
Methane oxidation was investigated in a nanosecond repetitively pulsed dielectric barrier discharge. Quantitative measurements of temperature and product species were performed using tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy and gas chromatograph sampling. Discrepancies with modelling work revealed uncertainties in the low temperature oxidation reactions, particularly for methyl radical oxida...
متن کاملNanosecond Laser Surface Patterning of Bio Grade 316L Stainless Steel for Controlling its Wettability Characteristics
In this work, potential of the nanosecond laser processing technique on manipulating the surface wettability of 316L bio grade stainless steel is investigated. Results show that the steel wettability toward water, improves significantly after the laser treatment. Different analyses are assessed in correlation with wettability using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Scanning Tunneling Microsco...
متن کاملTime-resolved cathodoluminescence microscopy with sub-nanosecond beam blanking for direct evaluation of the local density of states.
We show cathodoluminescence-based time-resolved electron beam spectroscopy in order to directly probe the spontaneous emission decay rate that is modified by the local density of states in a nanoscale environment. In contrast to dedicated laser-triggered electron-microscopy setups, we use commercial hardware in a standard SEM, which allows us to easily switch from pulsed to continuous operation...
متن کاملEvaluation of Dielectric Barrier Discharge Sterilization of Escherichia coli with a Swept- Wavelength Resonance-Raman Device
We show data indicating that resonance-Raman spectroscopy can distinguish live Escherichia coli bacteria from E. coli killed by a nanosecond-pulsed dielectric barrier discharge. The observations may result in an in situ, real-time method of monitoring sterilization efficacy.
متن کاملUse of Laser Spectroscopy for High-Accuracy Investigations of Relatively-Dilute Pulsed Plasmas with Nanosecond Time Resolution
In this report we describe the development of new approaches to measure the electric field and properties of relatively dilute plasmas under high-power pulses at the nanosecond time scale. These approaches are based on high-resolution laser spectroscopy. The study is carried out in a coaxial-pulsed-plasma configuration. The plasma was doped with a laser-produced lithium beam, followed by pumpin...
