چکیده

We present a new signaling concept which consists of transmitting an additional data rate to the original data rate that is determined by the channel bandwidth, the modulation scheme, and other physical-layer functions of the transmission system. This is accomplished by overlaying M excess symbols to each block of N primary symbols, with the excess symbol period being equal to N times the primary symbol period. The resulting interference between primary and excess symbols is handled using a joint symbol detection technique. Our analysis shows that for BPSK or QPSK modulation and M=1 or M=3, transmission of the excess data rate does not degrade minimum Euclidean distance when the excess symbol ratio M/N does not exceed 25%. Furthermore, our simulation results indicate that at bit error rate (BER) values in the order of 10 to 10, transmission of the additional data in these cases is achieved at the expense of a moderate to very small penalty in signal-tonoise ratio (SNR).

Differential M-ary orthogonal signaling for DS/CDMA land mobile satellite communications

In this paper, we derive an analytical framework for the performance evaluation of a recently proposed M-ary orthogonal scheme based on differential encoding/decoding of the Walsh/Hadamard chips prior/after spreading. This technique makes feasible nonpilot-assisted detection over fast fading environments such as the land mobile satellite (LMS) channel. Our results show that differential M-ary o...

A Set of Cyclic Orthogonal Codes Acquired from Walsh-Hadamard Matrix

In this paper, the properties of the WalshHadamard codes used as spreading codes in QCDMA cellular systems are analyzed. It is shown that among Walsh-Hadamard codes, obtained from Hadamard Matrix , only k 2 ) , 2 ( k H k 1 + k codes are orthogonal to each other in all phases. Also, the performance of the Walsh Hadamard codes is compared with that of the Gold codes from the average cross-correla...

On Walsh code assignment

Abstract-The paper considers the problem of orthogonal variable spreading Walsh-code assignments. The aim of the paper is to give assignments that can avoid both complicated signaling from the BS to the users and blind rate and code detection amongst a great number of possible codes. The assignments considered here use a partition of all users into several pools. Each pool can use its own codes...

Multi User Detection and Channel Estimation with Rotated Transforms for MC-CDMA

In this paper we present an extension of the pure Walsh-Hadamard spreading sequences for MC-CDMA. By rotating the phase of the modulated signal before spreading, the signal space is exploited more efficiently. After the spreading the Euclidean distance of each superposed constellation is distributed more favorable in the signal space than without rotating. The novel approach of this paper combi...
