Enhancement of Visual Realism with BRDF for Patient Specific Bronchoscopy Simulation

چکیده
This paper presents a novel method for photorealistic rendering of the bronchial lumen by directly deriving matched shading and texture parameters from video bronchoscope images. 2D/3D registration is used to match video bronchoscope images with 3D CT scan of the same patient, such that patient specific modelling and simulation with improved visual realism can be achieved. With the proposed method, shading parameters are recovered by modelling the bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) of the visible surfaces by exploiting the restricted lighting configurations imposed by the bronchoscope. The derived BRDF is then used to predict the expected shading intensity such that a texture map independent of lighting conditions can be extracted. This allows the generation of new views not captured in the original bronchoscopy video, thus allowing free navigation of the acquired 3D model with enhanced photo-realism.

متن کاملToward a Perceptually Based Metric for BRDF Modeling
Measured materials are used in computer graphics to enhance the realism of synthetic images. They are often approximated with analytical models to improve storage efficiency and allow for importance sampling. However, the error metrics used in the optimization procedure do not have a perceptual basis and the obtained results do not always correspond to the best visual match. In this paper we pr...
متن کاملControlled vs Spontaneous Ventilation for Bronchoscopy in Children with Tracheobronchial Foreign Body
Introduction Tracheobronchial foreign body aspiration is a common life-threatening condition in children. There are controversies in the management of this condition, including the type of ventilation during bronchoscopy. This study aims to compare anesthesia with controlled ventilation versus spontaneous ventilation in rigid bronchoscopy in children with foreign body aspiration. Materials...
متن کاملSeven-Year Survival of a Patient with Primary Tracheal Squamous Cell Carcinoma after Surgery: A Case Report
The primary tracheal cancers are very rare, and squamous cell carcinoma is its most common form, especially in smokers. Due to the late presentation of symptoms, these tumors are usually diagnosed too late, and thus, they have poor survival. The gold standard protocol for these cancers is surgical excision and adjuvant radiotherapy. Primary radiotherapy is applied for the advanced and inoperabl...
متن کاملComparison of Total Intravenous Anesthesia (TIVA) with Inhalation Anesthesia in Pediatric Bronchoscopy
Background: Because of airway stimulations during the bronchoscopy and lack of direct access to the airway, preferred method of anesthesia for rigid bronchoscopy is already controversial. In this study we compared inhalation anesthesia with total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) for rigid bronchoscopy. Method and Materials: 30 patients aged 2-6 years were chosen divided on two same groups. Anesthe...
