Centralized total received power based call admission control for high altitude platform station UMTS

چکیده
One of the unique characteristics of high altitude platform station (HAPS) Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is that all base stations are collocated. This enables the HAPS to centrally manage the amount of interference in all cells within the coverage area and allocate resources efficiently and optimally. In this study, we propose and analyze two centralized total received power based call admission control (CAC) schemes for HAPS UMTS. Simulation results show that the proposed centralized CAC schemes can achieve better grades of service than the distributed global CAC scheme where CAC is managed independently at individual base stations.

As universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) and wireless local area network (WLAN) have complementary characteristics, convergence of UMTS and WLAN offer seamless wireless access service to users. In a converged UMTS/WLAN enhancing quality of service (QoS) for different services require call admission control and load balancing. This paper analyses the performance of wideband power bas...

An important property of high altitude platform station (HAPS) Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS) is that unlike terrestrial tower based systems. interference is dependent on the antenna characteristics of HAPS rather than the terrain features (i.e., shadowing) in the service area. In this paper. we exploit this unique HAPS property to propose simple and effective adaptive softe...
متن کاملCall Admission Policies Based on Calculated Power Control Setpoints in SIR-Based Power-Controlled DS-CDMA Cellular Networks
In this paper, we develop call admission control algorithms for SIR-based power-controlled DS-CDMA cellular networks. We consider networks that handle both voice and data services. When a new call (or a handoff call) arrives at a base station requesting for admission, our algorithms will calculate the desired power control setpoints for the new call and all existing calls. We will provide neces...
