The need for audio preprocessing
نویسنده
چکیده
This document provides an overview of preprocessing techniques for audio signals to be matched with EEG signals for the purpose of hearing aid control. It is part of Deliverable D2.2 of the COCOHA project, funded by the H2020 ICT programme of the European Union under grant number 644732. The COCOHA project aims to help hearing impaired persons so that they can deal with challenging noisy environments, by providing them with the means to steer a sophisticated hearing aid with signals derived directly from the brain. This document is available at https://cocoha.org/cocoha-reports/.

A Comparison on Audio Signal Preprocessing Methods for Deep Neural Networks on Music Tagging
Deep neural networks (DNN) have been successfully applied for music classification tasks including music tagging. In this paper, we investigate the effect of audio preprocessing on music tagging with neural networks. We perform comprehensive experiments involving audio preprocessing using different time-frequency representations, logarithmic magnitude compression, frequency weighting and scalin...
متن کاملKapre: On-GPU Audio Preprocessing Layers for a Quick Implementation of Deep Neural Network Models with Keras
We introduce Kapre, Keras layers for audio and music signal preprocessing. Music research using deep neural networks requires a heavy and tedious preprocessing stage, for which audio processing parameters are often ignored in parameter optimisation. To solve this problem, Kapre implements time-frequency conversions, normalisation, and data augmentation as Keras layers. We report simple benchmar...
متن کاملTempo Induction and Beat Tracking for Audio Signals
The process of beat tracking and tempo induction can be primarily defined in terms of the concepts of tempo and beat. Tempo refers to the rate at which a musical piece is played, and is represented in score time units per real time units (beat per minute being its most popular format). A beat can be defined as a unit in a sequence of impulses which represent the tempo of a musical piece. In fac...
متن کاملبازشناسی خودکار حالت عاطفی مبتنی بر تغییرات فیزیولوژیک
Recently, automatic affective state recognition has been noteworthy for improving Human Computer Interaction (HCI), clinical researches and other various applications. Little attention has been paid so far to physiological signals for affective state recognition compared to audio-visual methods. Different affective states stimulate the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) and lead to changes in physi...
متن کاملA Segmental Spectral Flatness Measure for Harmonic-Percussive Discrimination
In a variety of applications of audio signal processing, for example blind source separation (BSS), harmonic signals need to be treated differently from percussive signals. Thus, recognizing if a signal is harmonic or percussive is a very helpful and frequently used preprocessing step. Different measures have been proposed to capture either the harmonicity or the percussivity of a signal, using...
