The Superspace of Geometrodynamics

چکیده

Wheeler’s Superspace is the arena in which Geometrodynamics takes place. I review some aspects of its geometrical and topological structure that Wheeler urged us to take seriously in the context of canonical quantum gravity. Nobody can be a stage for himself; he has to have a larger arena in which to move. The arena in which space does its changing is not even the spacetime of Einstein, for space-time is the history of space changing with time. The arena must be a larger object: superspace. . . It is not endowed with three or four dimensions—it’s endowed with an infinite number of dimensions.” (J.A. Wheeler: Superspace, Harper’s Magazine, July 1974, p. 9)

Ii. Use as Toy Models for Quantum Geometrodynamics

Relational particle models are employed as toy models for the study of the Problem of Time in quantum geometrodynamics. These models’ analogue of the thin sandwich is resolved. It is argued that the relative configuration space and shape space of these models are close analogues from various perspectives of superspace and conformal superspace respectively. The geometry of these spaces and quant...

Black holes and Rindler superspace: classical singularity and quantum unitarity

Canonical quantization of spherically symmetric initial data which is appropriate to classical interior black hole solutions in four dimensions is carried out and solved exactly without gauge fixing. The resultant mini-superspace manifold and arena for quantum geometrodynamics is twodimensional, of signature (+,−), non-singular, and can in fact be identified precisely with the first Rindler wed...

Recent Mathematical Developments in Quantum General Relativity

After a brief chronological sketch of developments in non-perturbative canonical quantum gravity, some of the recent mathematical results are reviewed. These include: i) an explicit construction of the quantum counterpart of Wheeler’s superspace; ii) a rigorous procedure leading to the general solution of the diffeomorphism constraint in quantum geometrodynamics as well as connection dynamics; ...

Cohomology of aff(1|1) acting on the space of bilinear differential operators on the superspace IR1|1

We consider the aff(1)-module structure on the spaces of bilinear differential operators acting on the spaces of weighted densities. We compute the first differential cohomology of the Lie superalgebra aff(1) with coefficients in space Dλ,ν;µ of bilinear differential operators acting on weighted densities. We study also the super analogue of this problem getting the same results.

On the problem of anisotropy in geometrodynamics

The problem of spiral galaxies rotation curves and some others are approached classically on the base of the geometrodynamics. The modification of the expression for Einstein-Hilbert action leads to the generalized geodesics and then to the equations for the gravity force that contain not only the Newtonian term. The used approach is consistent with the equivalence principle, preserves all the ...
