Vicious and virtuous cycles in ERP implementation: a case
نویسنده
چکیده
41 ERP implementations are complex undertakings. Recent research has provided us with plausible critical 42 success factors (CSFs) for such implementations. This article describes how one list of CSFs (Somers & 43 Nelson, 2001) was used to analyse and explain project performance in one ERP implementation in the 44 aviation industry. In this particular case, poor project performance led to a serious project crisis but this 45 situation was turned around into a success. The list of CSFs employed was found to be helpful and appropri46 ate in explaining both the initial failure and the eventual success of the implementation. CSFs in this case 47 appeared to be highly correlated, ie changes in any one of them would influence most of the others as 48 well. The reversal in performance after the project crisis was caused by substantial changes in attitudes 49 with most of the stakeholders involved, such as top management, project management, project champion 50 and software vendor. 51 European Journal of Information Systems (2002) ●, 000–000.

This gives rise to virtuous or vi...
متن کاملA Multiple Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System for Predicting ERP Implementation Success
The implementation of modern ERP solutions has introduced tremendous opportunities as well as challenges into the realm of intensely competent businesses. The ERP implementation phase is a very costly and time-consuming process. The failure of the implementation may result in the entire business to fail or to become incompetent. This fact along with the complexity of data streams has led ...
متن کاملVicious and Virtuous Circles in the Management of Knowledge: The Case of Infosys Technologies
We adopt a systems perspective to explore the challenges that organizations face in harnessing knowledge. Such a perspective draws attention to mutually causal processes that have the potential to generate both vicious and virtuous circles. Based on a longitudinal study at Infosys TechnoV. Sambamurthy and Mani Subramani were the accepting senior editors for this paper. logies, we conclude that ...
متن کاملAn EFQM Based Model to Assess an Enterprise Readiness for ERP Implementation
In today's competitive market, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is widely being used by industries. However, the results of the research efforts carried out in this field reveal that the rate of successful implementations for ERP projects is low and in most cases the planned goals are not achieved. Therefore it is necessary to assess maturity of an enterprise in terms of factors affect...
