Neurogenetic Adaptive Mechanisms

چکیده
Clinical, genetic, and neuropsychopharmacological studies ofdevelopmental factors in alcoholism are providing a better understanding of the neurobiological bases of personality and learning. Studies of the adopted-away children of alcoholics show that the predisposition to initiate alcohol-seeking behavior is geneticaily different from susceptibility to loss of control after drinking begins. Alcohol-seeking behavior is a speial case of exploratory appetitive behavior and involves different neurogenetic processes than do suscptibilit to behavioral tolerance and dependence on the antianxiet or sedative effects of alcohol. Ihree dimensions of pesonality have been described that may reflect individual differences in brain systems modulalting the activation, maintenance, and inhibition of behavioral responses to the effects of alcohol and other environmental stimuli. These personality traits distinguish alcoholics with different paterns ofbehavioral, neurophysiological, and neuropharmacological responses to alcohol.

Heterochrony and Adaptation in Developing Neural Networks
This paper discusses the simulation results of a model of biological development for neural networks based on a regulatory genome. The model’s results are analyzed using the framework of Heterochrony theory (McKinney and McNamara, 1991). The network development is controlled by genes that produce elements regulating the activation, inhibition, and delay of neurogenetic events. The genome can al...
متن کاملEvolutionary conservation of neocortical neurogenetic program in the mammals and birds
The unique innovation of the layered neocortex in mammalian evolution is believed to facilitate adaptive radiation of mammalian species to various ecological environments by furnishing high information processing ability. There are no transitional states from the non-mammalian simple brain to the mammalian multilayered neocortex, and thus it is totally a mystery so far how this brain structure ...
متن کاملCatecholamine phenotyping: clues to the diagnosis, treatment, and pathophysiology of neurogenetic disorders.
One purpose of clinical neurochemistry has been to indicate "activities" of catecholamine systems, by assaying levels of the effector compounds or their metabolites in body fluids such as plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, urine, or microdialysate. This review discusses a new purpose: relating specific catecholaminergic phenotypes to neurogenetic disorders. Distinctive catecholamine patterns in sever...

Abstract Background and Aim: Patients use various consciousness and unconsciousness mechanisms to deal with pain. the relationship between mature, immature and neurotic defense mechanism with adaptive and non-adaptive emotion regulation strategies was investigated. Materials and Methods: In this correlative study, 200 patients with chronic pain participants in this study from Akhtar and Labaf...
