چکیده

| We address the problem of reconstructing 3D space in a projective framework from two or more views, and the problem of artiicially generating novel views of the scene from two given views (re-projection). We describe an invariance relation which provides a new description of structure, we call projective depth, which is captured by a single equation relating image point correspondences across two or more views and the homographies of two arbitrary virtual planes. The framework is based on knowledge of correspondence of features across views, is linear, extremely simple, and the computations of structure readily extends to over-determination using multiple views. Experimental results demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in both tasks-reconstruction and re-projection.

Reconstruction of extended environments from image sequences

The automatic recovery of the three-dimensional structure of a scene from a sequence of two-dimensional images has been the subject of considerable research in the field of machine vision, with applications as wide-ranging as object recognition, virtual reality and robot navigation. Traditional attempts to solve this structure from motion (SFM) problem rely on calibrated cameras and involve the...

Projective Structure from two Uncalibrated Images: Structure from Motion and Recognition

This paper addresses the problem of recovering relative structure, in the form of an invariant, from two views of a 3D scene. The invariant structure is computed without any prior knowledge of camera geometry, or internal calibration, and with the property that perspective and orthographic projections are treated alike, namely, the system makes no assumption regarding the existence of perspecti...

Multiple Motion Scene Reconstruction from Uncalibrated Views

We describe a reconstruction method of multiple motion scenes, which are the scenes containing multiple moving objects, from uncalibrated views. Assuming that the objects are moving with constant velocities, the method recovers the scene structure, the trajectories of the moving objects, the camera motion and the camera intrinsic parameters (except skews) simultaneously. The number of the movin...

Linear and Bilinear Subspace Methods for Structure from Motion

Structure from Motion (SFM), which is recovering camera motion and scene structure from image sequences, has various applications, such as scene modeling, robot navigation and object recognition. Most of previous research on SFM requires simplifying assumptions on the camera or the scene. Common assumptions are a) the camera intrinsic parameters, such as focal lengths, are known or unchanged th...

A ne Structure from Line Correspondences with Uncalibrated A ne Cameras Long QUAN and Takeo KANADE

|This paper presents a linear algorithm for recovering 3D a ne shape and motion from line correspondences with uncalibrated a ne cameras. The algorithm requires a minimum of seven line correspondences over three views. The key idea is the introduction of a one-dimensional projective camera. This converts 3D a ne reconstruction of \line directions" into 2D projective reconstruction of \points". ...
