Nonsmooth Analysis in Systems and Control Theory

چکیده
Generalized gradients and subgradients These terms refer to various setvalued replacements for the usual derivative which are used in developing differential calculus for functions which are not differentiable in the classical sense. The subject itself is known as nonsmooth analysis. One of the best-known theories of this type is that of generalized gradients. Another basic construct is the subgradient, of which there are several variants. The approach also features generalized tangent and normal vectors which apply to sets which are not classical manifolds. A short summary of the essential definitions is given in §III.

Emerging Directions in Bifurcation Control
In this chapter, we present some emerging directions in bifurcation control in continuous-time dynamical systems. Specifically we discuss two unconventional bifurcation control problems: anti-control of bifurcations and nonsmooth bifurcation control. Anti-control of bifurcation means introducing a new bifurcation at desired location with preferred properties by appropriate control. Nonsmooth bi...
متن کاملOptimal Control of Nonconvex Discrete and Differential Inclusions
Optimization problems for discrete and diierential inclusions have many important applications and generalize both standard and nonstandard models in optimal control for open-loop and closed-loop control systems. In this paper we consider optimal control problems for dynamic systems governed by such inclusions with general endpoint constraints. We provide a variational analysis of diierential i...
متن کاملShape restricted smoothing splines via constrained optimal control and nonsmooth Newton's methods
Shape restricted smoothing splines receive growing attention, motivated by a wide range of important applications in science and engineering. In this paper, we consider smoothing splines subject to general linear dynamics and control constraints, and formulate them as finite-horizon constrained linear optimal control problems with unknown initial state and control. By exploring techniques from ...
متن کاملIQC analysis and synthesis via nonsmooth optimization
Integral quadratic constraints (IQCs) are used in system theory to model nonlinear phenomena within the framework of linear feedback control. IQC theory addresses parametric robustness, saturation effects, sector nonlinearities, passivity, and much else. In IQC analysis specially structured linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) arise and are currently addressed by structure exploiting LMI solvers. ...
متن کاملA General Scalar-Valued Gap Function for Nonsmooth Multiobjective Semi-Infinite Programming
For a nonsmooth multiobjective mathematical programming problem governed by infinitely many constraints, we define a new gap function that generalizes the definitions of this concept in other articles. Then, we characterize the efficient, weakly efficient, and properly efficient solutions of the problem utilizing this new gap function. Our results are based on $(Phi,rho)-$invexity,...
