Topological Conditions for the Existence of Absorbing Cantor Sets

چکیده
This paper deals with strange attractors of S-unimodal maps f . It generalizes results from [BKNS] in the sense that very general topological conditions are given that either i) guarantee the existence of an absorbing Cantor set provided the critical point of f is sufficiently degenerate, or ii) prohibit the existence of an absorbing Cantor set altogether. As a byproduct we obtain very weak topological conditions that imply the existence of an absolutely continuous invariant probability measure for f .

Absorbing Cantor sets in dynamical systems: Fibonacci maps
One of the central themes in the theory of dynamical systems is the concept of attractors. However, there is no complete consensus about the ‘correct’ definition of this notion. In particular it is not clear whether an attractor should attract a topologically big set or a set which is large in a metric sense. So, if f :M → M is a dynamical system defined on a manifold M , then we could define a...
متن کاملParabolic Cantor sets
The notion of a parabolic Cantor set is introduced allowing in the definition of hyperbolic Cantor sets some fixed points to have derivatives of modulus one. Such difference in the assumptions is reflected in geometric properties of these Cantor sets. It turns out that if the Hausdorff dimension of this set is denoted by h, then its h-dimensional Hausdorff measure vanishes but the h-dimensional...
متن کاملRotation Topological Factors of Minimal Z-actions on the Cantor Set
In this paper we study conditions under which a free minimal Zaction on the Cantor set is a topological extension of the action of d rotations, either on the product T of d 1-tori or on a single 1-torus T. We extend the notion of linearly recurrent systems defined for Z-actions on the Cantor set to Z-actions and we derive in this more general setting, a necessary and sufficient condition, which...
متن کاملThe approximate solutions of Fredholm integral equations on Cantor sets within local fractional operators
In this paper, we apply the local fractional Adomian decomposition and variational iteration methods to obtain the analytic approximate solutions of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind within local fractional derivative operators. The iteration procedure is based on local fractional derivative. The obtained results reveal that the proposed methods are very efficient and simple tools ...
متن کاملMeyer sets, topological eigenvalues, and Cantor fiber bundles
We introduce two new characterizations of Meyer sets. A repetitive Delone set in R with finite local complexity is topologically conjugate to a Meyer set if and only if it has d linearly independent topological eigenvalues, which is if and only if it is topologically conjugate to a bundle over a d-torus with totally disconnected compact fiber and expansive canonical action. “Conjugate to” is a ...
