The Stellar Dynamics Toolbox

چکیده

NEMO is a toolbox for users and programmers with which a wide range of experimental situations can be constructed, dynamically evolved, and analyzed. Primarily geared towards stellar dynamics, NEMO is by no means restricted to it. Great importance has been given to making the package extendible and to exibly import and export data. NEMO has been implemented within, and integrated into, the UNIX environment. A uniied command syntax provides users with a simple help facility, and provide programmers with a ready-made user interface. A general method for hierarchically structured binary data les is used to communicate between programs. We also describe a proposal to adopt FITS BINTABLEs as a basis for interchanging and archiving simulation results.

Local stability criterion for self-gravitating disks in modified gravity

We study local stability of self-gravitating fluid and stellar disk in the context of modified gravity theories which predict a Yukawa-like term in the gravitational potential of a point mass. We investigate the effect of such a Yukawa-like term on the dynamics of self-gravitating disks. More specifically, we investigate the consequences of the presence of this term for the local stability of t...

Evaluation of New MOND Interpolating Function with Rotation Curves of Galaxies

The rotation curves of a sample of 46 low- and high-surface brightness galaxies are considered in the context of Milgrom's modi_ed dynamics (MOND) to test a new interpolating function proposed by Zhao et al. (2010) [1] and compare with the results of simple interpolating function. The predicted rotation curves are calculated from the total baryonic matter based on the B-band surface photometry,...
